I would be against it simply out of some warped idea I have. I've always hated growing up in Australia, and take every chance I can get to attack it for its mongrel cross-breed no culture nature.
I don't like the idea of countries with complex historical backgrounds and inherent cultures suddenly becoming one. I don't like it because it is just another step towards globalisation; I don't like it because it is another step towards those cultures being forgotten; I like that you can make jokes about stereotypes of countries; not all countries are entirely friendly to the point where they would give up executive power in their country.
I know that there aren't too many valid points in what I said, it's more of a feeling that is inside of me, and it says No, Puzzles, don't let them take away your countrys independence after all, we don't all agree on how things should be done - as was said, all major wars started in Europe, they must have had conflict.
Ahh, god, I don't really believe what I'm saying that strongly, I mean an international empire would have some massive ability to influence world affairs, and in fact it is almost definately for the best.
But, having grown up in Australia - the land of lost identity, and also been a citizen of the United Kingdom, I've always thought well at least I have one big bad country to belong to, hell one that conquered millions in its time.
And then it becomes just another chunk of a bigger country. BLARG!
In all seriousness I think I actually would like this, I get really bored with the news so anything to mix it up a bit is great, as long as it doesnt destry cultural identities and so on.
