The art of war.

Seriously though, you can't really compare one form of art to the next... well you can, but it's pointless. You should have asked what is your favourite art form, because there is no greatest form.

Except maybe macaroni pictures.

I think the options are flawed.
It should go something like:
Music
Literature (NOT just novels)
Film (art in movement)
Visual Arts (as in drawings, printing, photography, sculpture, painting)
Rethoric (it's the proper name for the art of speech)
Games (if we're counting that as "art")
Dance (the body is the medium)
Martial Arts (referring to performances, like katas and demonstrations and whatnot. Not the actual fights)

Not really I concider (along with some others, but I dont think there many on this forum like me, maybe BJJ hero) The fighting part of martail arts as an art, the change of pace, the adaptive thinking, the shift of the battle from the right blow, the use of moves tuaght and years of training being showen right in front of you, the full pontential of this person who wants to win this. To me thats art, Beautiful, antamed art.

As a musician, I'm kind of biased. My brother's band is great if you're into psychedelic rock, hip-hop, protest songs, or just chilling. Disturbed's music is anoter favorite of mine. Anyway, I listen to everything, from heavy metal and classic rock, to classical and Celtic, to rap and parody. In fact, my Playlist (set to random) just jumped from Disturbed to AC-DC to Billy Joel to Weird Al. The greatest thing about music, in my opinion, is that you can say anything with it. Just pick a song, any song, and you can transpose it to any other genre. Classical, especially some of Wagner's work, is very close to heavy metal, and several metal bands give classical artists as some of the influences for their work. I could o on like this for hours, but I wouldn't say anything I haven't already said. As a close second, drawing/painting/photography is also a very powerful medium. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!

Some of the wonders of architecture [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Featured_pictures/Places/Architecture] are quite awe-inspiring sights. I can't compare different art forms. It's like saying some genre of novel would be better than other. It's all about how well done something is.

Well, you've certainly changed my mind.
I also want to add "Architecture", since it doesn't really fit in with visual arts.

Never thought about it before,

games are okay but I don't see them as art, I see art as a form of expression and I don't see any personal expression when I play a game.

Personally I'd say parkour, I think flowing through an environment, conquering your surroundings but at the same time being at peace with them, is the ultimate expression of freedom. To me it's reclaiming the human form, using the abilities of our ape ancestors to flow through our urban environment as they flow through their forest. To run and forget the troubles of the political and social world, to exist only in the physical world, to vault an obstacle, to dive, plant my hands down on the wall, tuck my legs as my momentum carries me forward, off my hands, I extend my legs down and continue running, all without a single conscious thought, that to me is true human movement, the body controls all, only the physical world exists, to me that is art.

The greatest form of art is always going to be subjective, as art itself is subjective. I don't think any art form is inherently better than any other, although games are lagging behind somewhat. I have hope though, as we do still get occasional gems like Shadow of the Colossus and Okami.

Films, I think, have had some of the greatest success in being works of art. The problem lies in making it artistic without being pretentious, which was where Apocalypse Now fell down. Artistic games have a similar problem, in that they're rarely taken seriously, and very few people tend to buy them.

Its very subjective and really down to personal taste at the end of the day, however I feel music is the most powerful form of art. Great symphonies and sounds have moved people to tears and only help accentuate what art lies around us.

Didn't vote any because they are all great, and there can't be "the greatest art form" as most ofthem are different from one another.
