You can choose any RPG from any generation, they can be any type of rpg - jrpg, fpsrpg, mmorpgs... etc.

I know there are a lot of very popular rpgs *eyes ff7 and ff7 action figures* and a lot of underrated ones, so when you choose your rpg tell us all why its your all time favourite.

My personal greatest rpg of all time is Zelda:OOT because its the closest rpg to perfection. :)

Oh and also, NO flame wars! Please...

Final Fantasy VIII, it tried something different. Yeah, the magic system was polarizing and the card game was a joke, but it's probably one of the best time travel stories I've ever read. Also, Quistis is cute; a much better match for Squall than Rinoa.

Well these days I'm spending a lot of time on Fallout 3... but damn it, Golden Sun made my childhood.

Of the listed options, I guess I'll go with... Fallout... 3?

But it's hard to pin down the "greatest" anything when opinion is so subjective.

I'll just say Fallout 3 is my favourite RPG and leave it at that.

Some other nice ones:
Mass Effect
Pokemon
Dungeons & Dragons (tabletop)
The Elder Scrolls

Final Fantasy VI was what made me like RPGs to begin with. It had the best story and the combat system wasn't half bad for its day.

MORROWIND

I grow tired of saying it.... if you want my reasons, you'll have to journey to the last FIFTY threads where I've said it.

I would say Oblivion, or Fallout 2, but I think that Bard's Tale deserves a vote. It was a rare case of a game with a genuine sense of humor. Plus, it was a Dungeons & Dragons/Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance-style game, so the gameplay was really fun.

Well, my answer is clearly Tales of Symphonia, but I give a large vote of confidence to Wizardry 8 and Planescape Torment.

[HEADING=1]Mass Effect[/HEADING]

Its storytelling is unparalleled, the universe it creates wholly believable. I'm actually surprised I enjoyed a sci-fi RPG so much.

Morrowin is a close second, as is Oblivion.

Runescape. There, i said it, flame me.

It's a good game, mainly people just insult it for the bad graphics, it's like morowind, not the best graphics in the world, but an absolute gem.
