Playing games on the iPad? I don't think that's very ergonomic...

I think the Ipad would be ok for display purposes... maybe something to hand around for everyone to see and interact with like in a meeting.

And maybe for a casual game, like anything offered on any mobile device. But for any serious AAA gaming I think it would have any real affect usual business.

Don't think there would be many companies out there willing to take a multi million dollar risk on the Ipad.

It's a new game device so by definition yes.

I can certainly name several things that contribute far less to the industry.

I actually played an iPad game for the first time today. While it may not have been massively sophisticated, it was kind of addictive and tilting the pad to control the game was an interesting experience.

I still wouldn't buy one though.

Jesus christ...did Apple kill the majority of this thread's collective Dog or something? I don't think I've seen such pointless bile towards a company...

The IPOD is good for gaming. The iPAD is too large for gaming in my opinion.
I agree with this. I own an iPod and have a few games for it. It's good fun. It may not be the most powerful platform but I believe it could lead to some good innovation and creative ideas within gaming. Isn't that a good thing? Aren't we all crying for innovation and creativity these days?

I mean, sure, games on the iPod/iPad may not be the most complex or sophisticated but that doesn't mean they can't be fun.

Also, I don't think the iPad is completely useless from an entertainment perspective (the price is a HUGE negative, though). The comic book applications are well made and provide an easy way to read comics, although the availability of issues leaves a little to be desired. I think digitally delivered magazine subscriptions would work immensely well also (I have no idea if some such service already exists). It's just a shame about the typical Apple product over-pricing really...

I honestly don't know.

I can see some kinds of games being suited to the device's touch-screen interface. For example, I can see tower defence games being massively successful on tablet computers. I wouldn't be surprised if PopCap decided to port Plants Vs Zombies to the iPad and made a killing as a result.

Basically, any game you can play with a mouse and only one mouse button could work on a tablet computer.
