I did a quick search but I didn't find a dedicated thread on this so I thought I'd make my own.
I just want to say that Bioware taking out holstering was the worse idea in the history of bad ideas. It's awful. Trying to explore with your gun up all the time is ridiculous and the camera, while great for combat, is WAY too close to the character to really see anything when you aren't in the middle of a firefight.
I've heard it was a memory issue of 3-4 megabytes or that it was replaced in favor of the quicksave. I just can't figure out what the hell was so important that they couldn't leave it out in favor of an established and useful game mechanic. Or worse, why they couldn't have added a toggle in the control menu to choose what the back button does: quick save or holster.
Also, the cover system sucks.
Does the lack of holstering during missions bother you like it does me?
EDIT: I do agree that the quick save function on consoles was a cool feature to add. My problem with it is that they didn't give us the option to toggle what the back button does: quicksave or holster. I'm perfectly fine with pausing the game to save manually. I'd like to be able to holster my weapon when there's nothing to shoot at for both aesthetic and gameplay reasons. Other people like quicksave over holstering. I just don't get why they couldn't add a toggle option to accomidate that when they took so much care to make it accessible to everyone by adding different game modes.
