Doorsteken en afzinken die handel! :p

While Dutch girls are good looking in general, Frisian girls seem to be the cream of the crop. If only they'd stop using that ridiculous language of theirs, everything would be fine. Fryslân Boppe!

Limburg daarentegen... :D

Yeah I was like that, but honestly compared to other countries we're not that bad. The lack of moral nannying here is so very nice.
Seriously... May I remind you that we are still being ran pretty much by conservative christians and that the last government actually had a minister who worried about the amount of pubic hair on teenager bodies. You know who I am talking about, I presume. I have never seen so much moral nannying anywhere. I've been to the US a few times and I would move there today if I had the chance.

But you're right about Doe Maar. :)

You seem to have a lot of double letters in names and words...at least from what I've seen, which isn't a lot.

Also Amsterdam seems like a pretty cool city.
Amsterdam is not that cool anymore. They closed down all the museums at the same time (brilliant, really), the whole city center is one big construction pit for a subway that's completely unnecessary and overruns the budget by about 500% (also causing damage to houses that are hundreds of years old), the coffeeshops are slowly being closed, the red-light district is shrinking, and it's not even legal anymore to walk around with a beer on a sunny day. The mayor is a complete moron who has no clue about city life in general. Nah, glad that I don't live there anymore. Oh, and don't get me started on traffic and parking fees.

Oh yeah I know what you mean. Still, it wasn't as bad as in other Western countries. Most of that nanny-like babbling was just that; empty babbling, it didn't lead to that much legislation. Just stern looks and a "tsk tsk" finger.

What I actually meant with moral nannying is that they don't force much of their morals upon us. We might be run by conservative christians, but we still have gay marriage, we still have euthenasia, you can still get an abortion, we still have prostitution, you name it. We don't have things like Australia where the government decides "this game is bad for you, so you can't have it" and bans it. And not to mention America...

Can't say I disagree with you about Amsterdam though. Never really found that place appealing. It felt so...filthy, and run-down. It's really the only thing I really miss here in Holland; a modern million-plus city, something like Brisbane.

I am American, but mostly I am immature, because "Netherlands" makes me giggle.
American? So what, Columbian? Brazilian? Mexican? Canadian?

Lots of countries in America. Unless you're referring to the USA, in which case USAian. Or USA'ian but that makes less sense.

Sarcasm, yea? I have to check, I've been getting it wrong recently when I think they're joking ant it turns out they aren't.

Speaking of which, on topic. ^ ^

:p

Met some Dutch people, they're fun. Never actually been to the Netherlands though so can't say one way or the other. Although Amsterdam is generally considered the red light district of the ENTIRE WORLD. There's a point where "liberal and free" goes too far, and going by the stats, Japans only competitors are China and Netherlands. :p

I like the language though, it's less harsh sounding than German, and I'm a fan of "soft". Makes for a nice accent. Not quite Russian, but good enough for me to consider venturing there when I finally get out of Aus. lol

Read your whole comment again, then read that part. You say you like the "freedom" to be drug addicted whores, then dislike the result. If drugs are.. I wouldn't say illegal for some of them, marijuana for example, but at least restricted. So get caught driving with it in your system and lose your license for six months instantly kinda thing. The ability to enjoy it in your own home, that's fine, the idea that tourism is based around "Lets all get high and fk a Dutch.".

That's not cool. Most Dutch I know that have been there regard it as a place that needs to be removed, but as I heard once, you can't have wild wild west without having wild wild west.

I'm from Germany and really like the Netherlands. These guys seems so much more easy going in contrast to my stuck up (and extremely stupid) countrymen. And they have a pretty high count of sexy men.

Well the Dutch seem to hate me because I'm Muslim so I don't exactly feel the same way as everyone else about the Dutch, sorry. But I don't have low opinions of Dutch people either, just because someone hates you doesn't mean you have to hate them back and I also refuse to believe that ALL Dutch people hate Muslims even if I was told such a thing, Dutch people don't automatically hate me...do they?
Well, i'm Muslim too, and I have met Dutch people. Now for my story...

I lived in Indonesia for a substantial part of my life. For those who don't know already, Indonesia used to be the East Indies, a Dutch colony, and there are some Dutch influences left here. I'm told that the Indonesian word for carrot (Wortel) is the same in Dutch, would that be right?

Anyways, I went to the most prestigious international schools which at the time was exclusively for expatriates (I'm told that it was rescinded and Indonesians are allowed in). A substantial percentage of the students were Dutch (10% maybe. It was really diverse: roughly 30% were Americans, 20% were Koreans, then there were Australians, Brits, Japanese, Indians, Filipinos, etc.) Some were pretty cool, some were okay, a few of them weren't cool with me. But overall, in spite of Geert effin' Wilders, the Dutch are overall great in my book.

As for the country, I'd like to see how Holland is like. A couple of friends went there, but said that it was a bit crowded.

So? I don't like it myself so I don't get into it and avoid the places that are rife with it. Others do like it and are free to do so, and yes I like that they can despite me not liking it. That's called tolerance, the Dutch used to be quite famous for it.

That and that shit earns us money. It's a nice little tourist trap.

Yup, it is. Didn't know it was the same in Indonesian.

I think that if you own property there you should sell it. That place hasn't much time left with current ice cap melting rates.

It´s pretty decent. We up here in the north care more about our closest neighbors. We´ve had quite a history together, you know?

Fun fact: Danmark and Sweden hold the record for most battles fought between us. Talk about vitrolic best buds, ey?

I have relatives in the Netherlands, specifically an aunt, an uncle and 3 cousins. After visiting them I can say without a doubt the Netherlands is a beautiful country with amazing people living there. I've never seen people be so polite to a complete stranger. I'd love to live there at some point in my life.

...My German uncle though refers to Dutch as a bastardised form of German and apparently the two countries have a rivalry in football?
Oh yes, though I don't know where it stems from (1974 World Cup, I think). The English have a very one-sided rivalry with the Germans, not realising they couldn't care less.

OT: Yeah, I used to view the Netherlands as weed-capital of Europe, like most Brits. However, as I work with a fair few Dutch people, they're decidedly much more chilled out than most other Europeans.
I'm going to stop you there and say that in no way shape or form is the rivalry in football between Germany and England one sided. The Germans go out and dance on the street when they see Britain do badly in the Eurovision song contest, and go mental about football easily as much as the British do. Germans love their footy too.
