It looks like I'm gonna be the two cents guy here. Anyway here is my two cents about some very interesting rumors and what not.
So as many of you know this past Comic Con it was announced that the sequel to Man of Steel will be a Superman/Batman movie. Even though Man of Steel has fans divided I'm hard pressed to find someone that doesn't think that the first live action Superman/Batman cross over movie is not awesome. Anyway that is not why we are here. Who will play Batman is why we are here. The Nolan trilogy was a reworking of the character and the entire world of Batman making it as realistic as possible which is why there was no venom drug for Bane and such. Now with Batman joining Superman the realism has kind of gone out the window for him and while it was hoped for that Christian Bale would don the cape and cowl again it was pretty clear that they needed a new Batman to separate the then from the now so to speak.
Ok so the history lesson is over now and I give you the name of the actor they have to play The Batman. Ben Affleck.....Having mixed feelings or possibly anger? Its ok that's what I saw a lot of on the article that they announced it. Now here is where I step in. I don't think this is a bad idea. Sure I don't think I've seen a lot of his films but I do know that Argo was good and he was good in it. Anyway I myself will withhold judgement because I am like that. I did that with Dragonball Evolution and The Last Airbender. Funny thing is apparently this isn't the first time this has happened with The Bat or his crew. Way back in the 1980s I've heard there was similar outcry for Michael Keaton to play Batman because no one could picture him as Batman. If you think about it though that is actually perfect for the character. Next thing you know it seems like people hailed it as the best thing to happen to Batman since The Dark Knight Returns or something. I was no existent when the movie came out but I've done a fair share of digging and it seems that is the reaction he got.
Next on the list is actually a much more recent example. The Joker. Yes I'm going there. When Heath Ledger was cast as The Joker I guess there was a lot of skepticism and probably a lot of fan rage on the internet about it. One movie later though people have that interpretation of the Joker in a three way tie for number one next to Mark Hamill's and Jack Nickelson's from the 89 flick. So with these two cases of supposed mis casting going horribly right I am withholding all judgement until 2015 when the movie comes out in what is sure to be a summer movie war for the ages. Let me give you a quick run down of what 2015 has in store.
Star Wars Episode VII, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Superman/Batman.
Yeah kind of awesome don't you think?
