It looks like I'm gonna be the two cents guy here. Anyway here is my two cents about some very interesting rumors and what not.

So as many of you know this past Comic Con it was announced that the sequel to Man of Steel will be a Superman/Batman movie. Even though Man of Steel has fans divided I'm hard pressed to find someone that doesn't think that the first live action Superman/Batman cross over movie is not awesome. Anyway that is not why we are here. Who will play Batman is why we are here. The Nolan trilogy was a reworking of the character and the entire world of Batman making it as realistic as possible which is why there was no venom drug for Bane and such. Now with Batman joining Superman the realism has kind of gone out the window for him and while it was hoped for that Christian Bale would don the cape and cowl again it was pretty clear that they needed a new Batman to separate the then from the now so to speak.

Ok so the history lesson is over now and I give you the name of the actor they have to play The Batman. Ben Affleck.....Having mixed feelings or possibly anger? Its ok that's what I saw a lot of on the article that they announced it. Now here is where I step in. I don't think this is a bad idea. Sure I don't think I've seen a lot of his films but I do know that Argo was good and he was good in it. Anyway I myself will withhold judgement because I am like that. I did that with Dragonball Evolution and The Last Airbender. Funny thing is apparently this isn't the first time this has happened with The Bat or his crew. Way back in the 1980s I've heard there was similar outcry for Michael Keaton to play Batman because no one could picture him as Batman. If you think about it though that is actually perfect for the character. Next thing you know it seems like people hailed it as the best thing to happen to Batman since The Dark Knight Returns or something. I was no existent when the movie came out but I've done a fair share of digging and it seems that is the reaction he got.

Next on the list is actually a much more recent example. The Joker. Yes I'm going there. When Heath Ledger was cast as The Joker I guess there was a lot of skepticism and probably a lot of fan rage on the internet about it. One movie later though people have that interpretation of the Joker in a three way tie for number one next to Mark Hamill's and Jack Nickelson's from the 89 flick. So with these two cases of supposed mis casting going horribly right I am withholding all judgement until 2015 when the movie comes out in what is sure to be a summer movie war for the ages. Let me give you a quick run down of what 2015 has in store.

Star Wars Episode VII, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Superman/Batman.

Yeah kind of awesome don't you think?

I don't think it's a bad idea, either; I mean, Keaton, Kilmer, Bale (....OKAY, and MAYBE Clooney) all played different characters across the span of their movie careers and while I don't think Affleck's the BEST actor at the best of times, he's indeed a DIFFERENT Batman and he's certainly not the WORST choice - I'm one of the two percent of the population who liked him in Daredevil despite, y'know, the movie lacking something.

Some people are gonna like it, some people are gonna hate it, *I* personally think that with proper writing, he'll do a fine job. He's handsome and charismatic and his personality can't possibly as flat as anything from Batman and Robin, so it's automatically at least a C but given the whole thing behind behind the story, it's PROBABLY gonna turn into an A minus at worst xD

(Also I don't know how I feel about Episode VII...... Avengers was/is good under Disney, I dunno if I like "Disney" slapped onto Star Wars. :I I just hope it doesn't go into the same territory every OTHER movie nowadays goes into, and that's the dark, emo corners of the outer fringe where some guy feels sorry for himself a la Anakin Skywalker. If they repeat the mistakes of Episodes I-III, we're gonna have a problem)

Yo. Right here, buddy.

I'm a fan of the comics and the characters, and I hate the direction the movies are going in. I want to watch a Superman movie, not Man of Steel. I want a Batman/Superman film, not a Batman vs Superman film.

Hoped for by who? All I've seen on the topic is "please God no, that's a horrible idea"

Your poll needs an "Affleck isn't a bad choice, but only if he gets given a decent movie to work with" option

Well...I'm incredibly excited about Avengers 2, at least.

Hm, who said it with "You don't need to play batman, you need to play Bruce Wayne"?

Unsure of the casting. Voted "No" for doubts, but may change my mind. Depends of the mood/setting of the Batman-Movie, i guess. I also don't like the newer Superman movies (Haven't seen the last one though, but heard slightly bad things about it) Something is missing there, but mostly wrong with the writing/directing i recon.

Also... am i the only one who like Daredevil? (Well, ok i am not, since it is still rated as pretty average) could have been better, but still it was okayish and entertaining.

There are worst choices, Ben Affleck is a kinda of a meh in acting, his acting doesn't help the film but doesn't hurt it either.

I'd have preferred Josh Brolin, but although I used to despise Affleck, he seems to have learned how to act in the last few years, so it could work. Given my disappointment at Man of Steel though, I'm expecting the film to be too long, with lousy character development and too many explosions, because for some reason they need to make it more Avengers like and can't be content with making a good movie instead./mildrage.

You may or may not have liked Christian Bale as Batman but he can act circles around Ben Affleck. Affleck's merely OK as an actor (he's a better director). Acting-wish, he was always better as the straight leading man than portraying any complex motley of emotions. So I guess it depends what kind of portrayal they're going for. My main problem is that I can never see him as anyone but himself.

I just can't see Affleck in a role where he is so crazed dealing with the death of his parents that he becomes a obsessed vigilante. The closest movie role he's had to this was probably the guy in Chasing Amy. I think he went through the same thing Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt went through which was once they got hugely popular, they stopped really trying to act as a different person; all the roles they take are just lesser facets of themselves. I really hopes Affleck proves me wrong, but I'm pretty sure he'll play the character the same way he played Daredevil, even though the two have quite different attitudes and flair.

I wanted an Idris Elba Batman, would have been amazeballs. I think Affleck will do alright though, I think people hold the Daredevil(I haven't seen it) thing against him too much.

That would have bothered me purely from a continuity standpoint. If Man of Steel and the Batman movies exist in the same universe, you can't just go switching races. That said Idris Elba would be great in just about anything, so if it were 2005 and we were talking about who should play Batman in Batman Begins, I'd be all for it.

I fucking hate Christain Bale as Batman, so anyone who isn't him makes me happy. I've always had a soft spot of Affleck, largely because of his connection with Kevin Smith, so I'm not upset at all. Affleck has done some great stuff in the past, especially when paired with a good director, so I'm cautiously optimistic about this casting. I think that one important aspect that makes this a good casting is that Affleck will almost certainly play a better Bruce Wayne than Bale did, because anytime he wasn't wearing the Batsuit, he was awful (he was also awful when wearing the batsuit, mostly because of that retarded voice).

I don't like Ben Affleck . I think he's a mediocre actor . However , i don't go see movies for the actors , i go for the spectacle , so as long as the movie is well written , i'm sure i will like it . I won't blame me not liking a movie on the actor that stars in it .

Amazing actor but I don't think he fits the rich dynastic white boy stereotype Bruce Wayne is cut from, to be honest.

I'm going to say "meh".

We've just had a Batman series, now they are going to do a rebooted Batman. I'm Batman-ed out. Now, a Bat family movie, with Robins and Batgirls and all, fair enough.

(Not to mention, endless movies about whiny straight white guys)

I have no issue at all with Affleck getting the role. I think he'll do a good job with it and should bring a slightly different feel to the role than Bale did.
