I know its been four days since they ended but I've decided to post this thread anyway...
So, did anyone hate the olympics.
I know I did, its not that I don't have upmost respect for my fellow (wo)man or any national pride but I just found the games annoying, sorta like a period that comes every four years.

It really messed up my work schedual, I had to work 2p.m-10p.m, istead of my regular 8-4 (everyone knows people like to hang out with their friends early in the afternoon) because my boss like to watch the Games and needed me to watch the store when I got home there was my mom and dad and sister watching the games like a family which made me feel great since they didn't bug me to spend time with them anymore.

Anyway what did you think about the olympics vote or post your opinion or both.

I watched them at work, usually. I bartend and we had the only TV I can see on the Olympics most nights. It was enjoyable because everyone got into it and cheered and such. Don't see a lot of that here since I work in a military bar and everyone's favorite sports teams are different.

It was incredibly generic, unexciting (with a few exceptions), somehow unforgivably commercial.

Perhaps it was because I was younger, but I just found the sydney and athens olympics much more interesting, and didn't view it as such a display of corporate greed and manipulation.

Olympics are boring, sorry to say.

I never got into them, they were just annoying, repetitve and in most cases the sports are only interesting for competitors, their family, other want to be competitors and people going crazy with national pride.

Yes i get it he can run really fast, why should i care?

Olympics were ok. No real feeling one way or the other (so I chose 'yes') but what happened behind the scenes with the Chinese politics pissed me right the fuck off. You would think the worlds media would have something to say about all of this but Nooo.

I enjoyed them, but I think the public and especially the media over-hyped the opening ceremony. Ok so 2008 guys can beat a drum? Impressive yes, better than I can do. BUT HELLO PEOPLE!! IT IS THERE JOB!! THIS IS WHAT THEY DO 14 HOURS A DAY FOR YEARS!!! It's not like if this was just a side talent when they weren't working or something.

Too much running, too much swimming, too much of people practising semi-obscure sports one after another where you can't tell what either one did differently but the judges give one guy a nine and the other a four. I mean, there's a reason that most Olympic sports only ever get broadcast during the Olympics.

I was actually impressed with Canada's performance during the last week. I enjoy the Olympics more than I like to admit.

Yarp.

I found the opening ceremony interesting in places (ok one place, the moveable type bit), in others it was shite. Some of the events were good to watch. Plus I pleased with how my old homeland (GB) did. But mostly it was kind of a big meh. Only watched bits and bobs.

I haven't paid much attention to the Olympics, but I did happen to catch Michael Phelps' big race against that French dick. My friends and I were cheering and hollering and carrying on the whole time.

That's the only part I really remember.

I don't really see the point in the Olympics. You can try and way my opinion if you have a good reason for loving them. I certainly don't agree with Britain telling us how bad the credit crunch is every day and how our economy is suffering just to spend 9 Billion on them.

I put yes because of Michael Phelps, the Gymnastics and some of the Beach Volleyball matches, but other than that, all the sports that I cared about (wrestling, tae kwon do, fencing, and judo) were never aired on Television and I didn't get to see a single thing that I actually looked forward to. So its a yes and no answer and I am very pissed off at the NBC network for showing me fucking Ping Pong and god damn SPEED WALK RACING!!! AND SHITTING ON MY FACE BADMINTON!

Instead of sports that are actually exciting to watch.
