I'm not really anything (politically) since there are aspects from across the board (within reason) that I'm in favour of.

Therefore, to me the ideal government is: non-partisan technocratic meritocracy (Plato's Republic-esque).

I will say it now and attract a lot of derision for this, but I am am absolute elitist (in a strictly non-social sense, hence the 'meritocracy' bit).

Here is the chart I use, it allows me to show pretty much every extreme possible. In the cases where I could not think of anything, I used a real world party or country.

The reason that the Netherlands is where it is, is because of the legalisation of prostitution and some drugs that are typically illegal elsewhere.

Wherever this falls in to the scale, I guess.
That's almost a mirror image of my own results.

Economic Left/Right: -8.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.87

Now the trick is to find a political party that comes anywhere remotely close to that. Good luck!

I'd say I'm pretty neutral, but I do lean slightly to the right more than the left. Really, it's more a case by case issue than overall one political philosophy. So, I'm me? Yeah, that's it. I'm me. Nice to meet you!

Neutral. Though we tend to call it "Moderate". Both sides have some valid points and I get to pick and choose which ones I want. (Suck it, extremists! heh, kidding).

Seriously though, neither end of the spectrum is entirely right. The ideal system (at least in my opinion) is finding the correct balance of conservative (smaller government) and liberal (larger government). Moderate is the only logical choice to me.

For some reason this reminds me of an old episode of Extra Credits (at least in their in-game morality system idea). So, yeah... here:

I'm like you, nearing communist but not totally communist as I am aware that there are a lot of problems that go with communism. I'll wait now for the Americans to bomb my house...

You can't call it a spectrum.

There are many branches of each.

For example, I really don't think communism is just an extreme form of liberalism.

(I'm a liberal democrat myself.)
I'd have to respectfully disagree, I think that the extreme of liberal is communism, as they both stand to abolish the poverty trap and both stand for equality, I think it is just HOW EQUAL you want everyone to be that dictates the difference between the two and in fact all political leanings.

OT: I personally believe there is no such thing as a poor conservative, it's an oxymoron.
However, anarchists are also very liberal, and are very much against Communism, which is a totalitarian state.

I have no idea. Mainly because I've become somewhat apathetic about political ideals recently, I just don't care if I'm liberal or conservative or authoritarian.

From what I do know I'm definitely more liberal than conservative and more central then de-central (when it comes to the government). While I believe in a meritocratic society, I also feel that everyone should work together rather than compete so heavily against each other. Beyond that I'm pretty much for what works.

I'm basically an anti-authoritarian localist. Meaning, I believe that a government cannot be a good government if it is a single government governing over too many people. An example of excessive rule is the United States.

When it comes to Economics I am in favor of moderate regulation, with companies run by workers, and when it comes to Social politics I am fairly liberal, but not entirely.

The test was rather fun. And surprisingly easy, as in not having to think too many questions for a long time.

PART of the problem is that people (particularly Americans) don't seem to understand the difference between politics and economics.

Representative Democracy is a political system. Socialism is an economic system. Libertarianism is a mess. Most people who call themselves Libertarians these days are really just hard-right conservatives with a selfish economic agenda.

In the US, a big part of the difference between the two major parties is which freedoms they're most concerned about. The Republicans want their economic and personal freedoms at all costs (the second amendment, businesses' right to do anything they want, etc.), whereas the Democrats are concerned with social freedom (the other nine amendments, free religion, civil rights for all, etc.)

The opposite of Democracy is NOT Socialism or Communism any more than the opposite of Capitalism is Monarchy.

Socially. I'm a Libertarian.

Economically, I'm Socialist.

Politically, I'm a Liberal Social Democrat.

The REST of the problem is that while I like most individuals, taken as a whole, people are pretty awful.

Whatever socialist is I guess. I feel the go-it-alone, me-against-the-world attitude of the colonial/imperialist days is waaay outdated. The larger our population grows, the greater and more streamlined our infrastructure needs to be. Life is a co-op campaign.

Heh funny, out here that's completely the opposite.
Well, actually, in America both conservatives and liberals love big government. The only difference is that while liberals love to run up huge budget deficits, conservatives love to run up huge budget deficits while simultaneously lowering taxes for rich people.
