But the Shalebridge Cradle was the scariest thing in gaming history, therefore I can't vote in this list.

The scariest game I have ever played was Fatal Frame. It was damn creepy to hear somthing in the room with you and raise the camera to your eyes only to have the ghost six inched away from your face and attacking you. I think I soiled myself a couple times. Plus the little girls are downright creepy.

Penumbra isn't on the list. It is, hands down, the scariest game ever.

I didn't vote for any of these games because the only one I've actually played is Dead Space. I would say the scariest game I've ever played is Metroid Fusion. You know if I say a GBA game is the scariest game I've ever played then I'm serious. You spend the entire game alone on a space station overrun by monsters. Your only contact is a heartless computer and you run around in the slowly deteriorating ship with the eeriest music I've ever heard trying to avoid the imminent death of running into the unstoppable SA-X. Sometimes you can hear the SA-X's footsteps...then you start to wonder "Oh God! Where is it?!"

Close second, the island section of Resident Evil 4. The Regenerators scared the crap out of me.

Has anyone else actually played the Suffering? It's the scariest thing in existence! Because of it, nothing scares me anymore. Nothing.

Edit: Mind you, Condemned was way more fun. But not as scary. But close.
