Because my personal opinion does not factor in to this discussion. The discussion is Sales vs Majority Opinion. It is not a game breaker, he is not wise. As it so happened, I have played both, Skyrim was better in my opinion. This isn't about one opinion. This is how you judge a game on a MASS SCALE.SL33TBL1ND said:Fuck. That was quick. I was expecting this at least 3 posts down.cyrogeist said:...how about playing the games and finding out for yourself?

You can't.DailonCmann said:This is how you judge a game on a MASS SCALE.
Actually, it does. You claim that "0 spamming" brought down the score. More people voted poorly than well, even if they had picked any number other than zero, the negative review would have been given, it would not have saved. It wasn't skewed, more people voted negatively.Radeonx said:I..okay? I wasn't arguing whether or not more people gave it a positive or negative review. I wasn't arguing whether majority opinion was right or wrong. I was pointing out a blatant flaw in your logic, which you are now covering with a statistic that didn't have anything to do with what I was talking about.DailonCmann said:The fact is that more people said it was negative than positive. 2,323 gave a negative review, while 1,308 gave a positive one.Radeonx said:Do you have any ideas how means work? Because 0 bombing will bring down the overall score greatly, skewing the "majority opinion" statistics.
That doesn't necessarily speak to the quality of the game; that is simply an indication that the people who hate CoD are far more vociferous in expressing their opinion.DailonCmann said:The fact is that more people said it was negative than positive. 2,323 gave a negative review, while 1,308 gave a positive one.Radeonx said:Do you have any ideas how means work? Then how does any business get down? How does anyone decide that one game is good and another bad? Why is Pacman good, while Charlie and the Chocolate Factory bad? This whole personal opinion invalidates majority and sales is not valid. If your personal opinion is for something, then it factors into a Majority Opinion. One opinion does not matter, many opinions do.SL33TBL1ND said:No. I was commending you for posting the correct answer.cyrogeist said:was that supposed to be an insult?SL33TBL1ND said:snip

Only like-minded opinions matter. That isn't on a mass scale. If you want to know whether you'd like a game, you check with someone who likes similar things to you, or a reviewer that you feel has similar opinions. Checking either sales data or how many fanboys to haters there are on Metacritic is a waste of your time.DailonCmann said:Then how does any business get down? The same can be said for local government, those who bother to show up gets counted.SonicKoala said:In other words, of the people who bothered to comment on Metacritic, more of them strongly disliked CoD. That does not mean more people hate it - you would have to take into consideration the opinion's of all 7 million people who purchased MW3 in order to conclusively determine that.
Ok...are you countering what I said, or merely elaborating on it?DailonCmann said:The same can be said for local government, those who bother to show up gets counted.SonicKoala said:In other words, of the people who bothered to comment on Metacritic, more of them strongly disliked CoD. Elaborating on it. You've hit on the major flaw with the majority opinion aspect of the argument and it's a very good point.SonicKoala said:Ok...are you countering what I said, or merely elaborating on it?DailonCmann said:The same can be said for local government, those who bother to show up gets counted.SonicKoala said:In other words, of the people who bothered to comment on Metacritic, more of them strongly disliked CoD. It's not about which game is better for you, it's overall which game is better. These things do exist. At the end of the day, which game is better from an unbiased view and which point of reference is the best to judge it from? That's the question.Joccaren said:How do I tell which game is better before buying? I watch videos of them on Youtube, and I read up about them on independent websites. Neither sales nor Metacritic rating are a reliable way of telling which is a better game for me, nor a better game overall (As if such a thing could exist).
