Alright this is my first forum so please go easy on me.
The poll question about having been exposed to porn got me thinking. At what age did you have The Talk? Did anyone had The Talk before you were exposed to porn? If you did, did you go meh when you were exposed to porn?
I received The Talk when I was 7 my mom thought it was important for me to know what sex was. So I was wasn't surprised at all when I was exposed to porn when I was 12.

Edit: Jesus Christ I thought there'd be more people having The Talk, but apparently most parents let the government or television teach their kids about sex.

I got the talk when I was around 6 or 7. I stumbled across porn only once in the form of a pop up ad that wouldn't go away when I tried to get rid of it. It wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't an ad for a very bad fetish site. *shudders in remembered trauma*

No-one ever told me anything. I just kinda gradually figured it out through conversations with people at school, and seeing hardcore porn for the first time was definitely helpful. By the time we had Sex Ed at school I think I knew more than the teacher.

Never really had "The Talk" from my parents. The School kinda picked up on that almost every year since 3rd Grade...

I was never given the talk, I learned about sex at school at around 8 or 9 and then I learned more about it from my girlfriend at 13, and no, I don't mean it like that.

I got "The Talk" when I was about 13. But I picked up most of it on my own.

I never got "The Talk." I got handed "The Book" at age five. I read it. I understood it. I was prepared.

Bear in mind, I was reading (and understanding, albeit on the most basic level) Heinlein at the age of seven, so getting a book about puberty, etc. at the age of five would prove no bad idea. I may be a smart ass, but I'd rather that than a dumbass.

English playing FTW!

The only talk I ever got was from health class. I already knew everything by then anyway.

Well, I knew the basics atleast. There were some quite intriguing, quite disturbing things I learned in health class...

10 years old for a girl.

Explain it is coming up and what it is.

Then show her a live birth with as much screaming from the mother you can find.

And point "That's what happens when you have unprotected sex, or sex at all. And she's grown up, earlier you can harm yourself....so don't do it. By the way, you do and I'm not supporting you."

Stopped my kid. The image and screaming was enough

Never had it. I just have good ol' Google to teach me- my school didn't help me with shit, either. No wonder my friends are losing their virginity left and right?

The overwhelming majority had to learn about sex on their own?

Do I even have to make a comment about the crappy parenting that permeates our society?

My parents just assumed my brother and I knew about that stuff already. We got the abridged version, which isn't really the same thing as having the actually talk.
