I had the talk when I was 12, but it was just the simple stuff. The rest I either learnt by myself or in Science class.

Edit: Jesus Christ I thought there'd be more people having The Talk, but apparently most parents let the government or television teach their kids about sex.
It's nothing to do with 'having to learn by yourself' but everything to do with being given the opportunity to learn yourself. Did your talk really have anything to do with the sex you eventually ended up having? Were you somehow well prepared for that by your mother? If your answer here is 'yes', I've got to say that your 'talk' must have been pretty strange and probably not at all healthy.
Actually yeah my "Talk" did tell me EVERYTHING and it wasn't anything to be ashamed about. Even if people did learn some stuff about sex along the way it's still important that parents sit down with their kids and talk to them about it, because some people can get the wrong ideas about sex when they see it on TV or the Internet or wherever they heard it from. It's the duty of parents to guide thier children till adulthood.
LOL. So I take it your mum taught you that you should make sure that your partner is properly aroused first. Some good techniques include fingering, where if you crook two fingers you wil find that you can effectively stimulate the g-spot and thus effectively arouse your partner. Did she also tell you not to go too fast when inserting your finger because it is likely to hurt your partner? Did she tells you that it feels really nice when the man slowly circles his tongue around the clitoris, or that gently flicking it with the tip of the tongue can be amazing, but doing it too hard hurts? Did she tell you that the proper way to have anal sex with your girlfriend is to use a lot of lube, and dildos/butt plugs that graduate in size until the anus is both loosened and well lubricated? Did she tell you that she finds it ungentlemanly when her head is pushed down onto a penis that she is fellating, and that it can cause her to gag, which hurts? Did she let you practice on her bra how you are supposed to undo them?
I'll stop there because I think my point is illustrated.
For the most part yeah especially the bra practice. She didn't tell me much about anal sex cuz she she told me "that place isn't really for sex so don't do it." She didn't say about the whole " Did she tell you that she finds it ungentlemanly when her head is pushed down onto a penis that she is fellating, and that it can cause her to gag, which hurts?". She would just say "be gentle and go with the flow."

I got the talk when I was around 6 or 7. I stumbled across porn only once in the form of a pop up ad that wouldn't go away when I tried to get rid of it. It wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't an ad for a very bad fetish site. *shudders in remembered trauma*
Lol now I want to know what fetish
Fat old women. Gaaaaaaaaaah! Please excuse me while I go bleach my brain.
Hahahaha, omg that sucks sorry man.. You know what they say about the internet...
Indeed, but I'll take my revenge one day in a very Alex Mercer-like fashion. Mwahahahaha! Until then, I think I'll go cry in a corner until I manage to repress that memory again.

:p

Learnt mostly at school, but my parents have always been open and honest with any questions I asked them. We even joke about it sometimes.

The only talk I ever got was from health class. I already knew everything by then anyway.

Well, I knew the basics atleast. There were some quite intriguing, quite disturbing things I learned in health class...

Never got the talk, I learned about sex at like, age 4 or 5, something like that. My parents didn't bullshit with the stork thing and the version I got was something like "when a mommy and a daddy hug and kiss the daddy spts a seed into the mommy and she makes a baby in her belly and poops it out" (probably not anything like the exact words) So basically I got into an argument in like first grade or something with this kid who believed the whole stork thing and then a fifth grader who had just finished watching that standardized video was nice enough to fill us in. I only remember this because the stork kid's parents where really censorship happy christian types and made a huge stink about it so I ended up getting in a lot of trouble over it for some reason.

I never got the almighty talk from my parents. By the time my mom remembered that I was around, I was already 16. I told her that she was a bunch of years too late and she shouldn't waste her breath.

I believe any of us who learned it in school remember the most horrifying health class of our lives.
I didn't learn it in school, but that class was the single most hilarious one we had to attend. The dudes that came to teach us picked the most squeamish kid and the most hyper kid to the front of the class to talk to them and whatnot. Oh man, it was hilarious to see the poor nervous kid trying to inch himself out of the classroom...

My auntie used her cats to tell me all about "the talk" i was 4yrs old. My mother never forgave her for it though i still find it amusing. Then again, i hate talking about it, used to skive Sex Ed in school... now, the internet proves to be a useful tool when i need to know what the hell to do (pity some over exaggerate the fun and make it look so easy).

My parents never gave me the talk, before they had a chance they found out I was already browsing fetish sites and I was already lost to them.
