My children playing FFXIII:

Child:WOAH!This game is awesome!The combat!The Story!The graphics!

Me:pfft!(spits)Try one of the sequels...its on a secret system...called the SNIS!...

Child:Sure!(play FF 3)

Child:Some sequel! They qaudrupled the amount of characters I can control!

Me:Yup...and there is over 16 jobs.

Child:What? Is the story completely explained in the bulk of the game?

Me:Of course it is.And don't worry about missing an item in a city/town.

Child:Why?

Me:Cuz you get an airship...that doubles as a subermarine!You can back-track!

Child:BACK-TRACK?!Why would I do that?

Me:You can talk to the townsfolk and gather info like your in the game! This is called immersion. And there are multiple stats that effect the gameplay.

Child:And what of the summons?Do you ride them? Are they just useless?

Me:No you can use them...so long as you have the MP for it!

Child:Really!?FFXV is the best!

Me:Son I lied to you...this is FF3.All the new FF games will be similar to FFXIII.This was the past.

Child:Dam it dad!First Brave Fencer Musashi,now this!....*picks up FFXIII*Ultimate Frisbee?

Me:I thought you'd never ask Leno,thought you'd never ask!
:p

I see Square Enix in sort of the same light I see George Lucas.

Two creative forces that have NO IDEA why their old media was so popular

All Square Enix games suck IMO. I need not say more.
Try: Just Cause 2
Yes, but JC2 has terrible story and voice acting. The only redeeming quality is the gameplay which is over-the-top in a good way. Don't get me wrong, I love JC2 but I want to kill the voice actor for Tom Sheldon and whoever wrote his character.
I just imagine the game as a bad hollywood action movie, and it all falls into place. I truly hate the story and voice acting too, but it's just so fun!

That said, it's probably way, way too much to ask that Just Cause 3 be a bit more over the top, with some half decent story and voice acting.

As much as I hate to say it. I kind have to agree. I recently beaten FFX, and while it was an overall good game, I didn't find nearly as fun as the game before it. (FFIX) And than I played FFX-2. Dear... god... the unskippable dressphere animations... MAKE THEM STOP!!!!

If you have the PC version:

Let the extremely over the top insanity begin.

FFX-2 - Girly ball of pink furry fun...
FFXI - Meh
FFXII - Weak story, very weak main character
the god-forsaken FFXIII - Linear corridors... Auto-attack every round...
and FFXIV - Meh
FFX-2 - Fun if you don't take it seriously, which isn't the point of the game anyway. I liked it, myself.

FFXI - Never played, but was interested in it for a time before realising I literally, financially, can't afford to play MMOs.

FFXII - Loved it. I thought it was a pretty good game, despite Vaan and Penelo (and at least with them, they made up for it by being decent characters in Revenant Wings). Only gripe was the story seemed a bit too much like Star Wars (though that's hardly a bad thing...).

FFIII - Not played yet, but I've heard good and bad stuff, and I'm actually looking to get it within the next few weeks. From what I know of it, it seems like a game I'll actually enjoy, and I don't think linearity is necessarily a bad thing,so can people stop moaning about that? FFX is loved by most and that was exceptionally linear until you get the Airship about 30-odd hours in, for Christ's sake...

FFXIV - Not played, again I'm very interested but can't afford the monthly cost of an MMO.

So yeah, those are my thoughts. My point is, just because you don't like the newer games in a series, doesn't mean the series itself is bad or has become bad. Change is good. Don't complain if you don't like something, just ignore it. There are plenty of people, like me, who do like the changes, so please stop whining, people...

The changes divides the fanbase. Some people don't consider 10-2 and up as part of the series period...cuz the original team left and all....kinda like Dragonball GT

Edit:And Crisis Core...oh God the mindless grind! And I never want to see another Bahamut again!Overdone!

I'd say fuck Square Enix but then i'd be covered in fan wank and spit, so i will simply say i have not liked a single one of their games.
