The only DLC I have on that list is Rezurrection, and I got it free and early with the Hardened Edition, minus the space zombies.

So yeah, I liked that I "bought" it :D

Can't think of anything not on that list that I've regretted buying, however. I HAVE regretted NOT buying any Fallout New Vegas DLC....

Well, I was kinda forced into getting Horse Armor and Warden's Keep when I bought Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition and Dragon Age: Origin: Ultimate Edition...

I couldn't work out what the hell Warden's Keep was doing there until I read the full article - I bought the Ultimate Edition of DA:O well after the initial release, so I had no idea that's how they handled it... that's pretty low.

Being a massive fanboy I ended up buying most of the Mass Effect 2 DLC, some of it was of negligible value but some of it was quite good. Even I couldn't bring myself to buy the alternative appearance packs though...

I haven't bought anything on this article's list, but I think it's fair to say that Avatar items from Xbox Live are a true waste of money. And I'm terribly guilty of this.

I wanna find the 12 people on Earth that actually play that Train Simulator game and quietly escort them to the Aperture Science T-1000 euthanization chamber. Seriously, whoever enjoys spending hundreds of dollars on a train simulator has had enough mental trauma for one lifetime.

As with most purchases I think them through thoroughly before buying meaning I never buy something I will not like.
This does apply you DlC

Actually out of the list I not only don't have any of those items of DLC, I don't own the games they are for.

Just Cause 2 also features exquisitely bullshitty DLC:
You can buy guns. Better guns, significantly better guns than in the actual game - the Marksman's Rifle and Rico's Signature Gun.
Both are semi-auto, stupid powerful, hyper accurate, cost roughly $2 each....

And use their own unique ammunition.

If you don't have/don't play JC2, ammo pickups happen either from boxes containing specific ammo OR (much much more prevalent) only happen from touching the corpses of dudes who were holding a specific gun.

In essence, dudes carrying AKs will have AK reloads, dudes carrying revolvers will have revolver reloads, pretty standard.

Now, the DLC weapons, the DLC weapons are wholly unique. No dude in the game carries them.
Which means, by extension, there is no way to get ammunition for his weapon as part of normal gameplay.

Sure, you can just buy it again (from the in-game shop, naturally, because just because you paid real money for these guns doesn't mean you get them automatically in the game, you still need to buy them from the Chopper Shopper) at a hilariously outlandish price. And every time you run out of ammo? YOU CAN JUST BUY IT AGAIN FROM THE CHOPPER SHOPPER. AT A HILARIOUSLY OUTLANDISH PRICE.

And seeing as how you can only in-game shop when out-of-combat, if you dare run out of ammo mid-mission WELL THEN, SONNY MY JIM, LOOKS LIKE THAT REALWORLD/GAMEWORLD CASH INVESTMENT TURNED OUT TO BE A PRETTY FUCKING POOR CHOICE.

Gratz! You've just paid real money for something that will immediately turn out to be too much of an expensive hassle to actually use in-game!
Well...that's a fail. I never bought...or even looked at the DLC for Just Cause 2. It's kinda sad that stellar games like well...everything on the list but Train Simulator 2012+ Just Cause 2 resort to such cheap ways to get money.

Also..four people voted yes for Loving Train Simulator? Guess it takes all kinds..

I had wardens keep when i had dragon age origins on xbox when i pre ordered, and it was actually pretty decent compared to quite a few DLC's i have seen/gotten before...but that was the only one from that list that i "had".

I'm almost insulted TF2 isn't on that list, although it's technically not DLC, neither is the Snookie hair, so shut up. TF2, for you lucky/unlucky saps who haven't played it, is an awesome game ruined by one terrible feature, hats. There are a number of unique weapons in the game that have their unique abilities and features, but none of those force you to buy them, they can all be acquired in game (with the exception of the Rocket/Sticky Jumper but those are worthless anyway). Hats on the other hand, serve no purpose whatsoever, other than to make your character look good (with the exception of... oh fuck it). These hats go from $5 for crappy old ones to $25+ for new ones, while the weapons that actually, ya know, do shit cost $0.50 or less on average. There are easily 100+ different kinds of hats, I guess that's not as bad as the trains but the sad thing is that people are actually buying them, which makes absolutely no sense to me. Also, there are crates you can find randomly in game, but are worthless unless you open them by buying keys worth $2.50 each. You can get anything from an Equalizer (worth about -$0.30), or you could get an unusual hat, which is exactly the same as a regular hat but with flashy lights that get you headshot (worth slightly more money than currently exists on the planet). I'm amazed this isn't considered gambling, but I have a personal strategy of collecting as many crates as I can, (since they're worthless they are often given out for free by people who won't pay for keys, like me) and then selling them for weapons and stuff I actually want. So I'm basically selling free stuff, and people actually buy them off me! WHAT THE CRAP?!?

Also, Eve Online sold a digital monocle for $70, and I think the game went free to play, thus that is worth INFINITELY more than the game itself. Though TF2 is F2P now so...

I hope no one ninja'd me on this, I wrote this like 2 hours ago but forgot to hit post. This should be the 8th post from my point of view, though I don't hold out that hope.

The only DLC's I have bought are the story ones for mass effect. I am guilty of buying a completely pointless outfit for a character in Guild War which was stupid but that was largely because I figured that since I had the game for so long and bought them all on sale that I might as well give them some more money.

How about the Bioshock 2 DLC "Rapture Metro Pack" that after spending 800 MSP you find out that unless ALL the players in the lobby also have the pack that you cannot play on the maps. Not only that, 2K acknowledged the problem, and then does nothing to fix it...not even a separate map server for those who bought the DLC

Nice waste of 10 bucks for me because NOBODY owns or plays the damn game anymore...At least Horse Armor you could use....

Only bought DLC for two games: Scott Pilgrim and LittleBigPlanet. I don't want to know how much money I've spent on LBP, probably nearing $600.

I bought Warden's Keep and a little Woody doll for my 360 avatar...and some clothes.

I stand by Warden's Keep all the way. That wasn't frivolous to me. I enjoyed that piece of DA:O. And it was incredibly useful for me at least. I'm a hoarder... >.>

Ok yeah, the clothes and the toy for my avatar was a bit much. But, people buy even stupider things on other games. I just read a comment about how someone sold hats that were supposed to be free in TF2. So yeah, I had a moment of weakness, and I'm working on making sure it will never happen again. Shock therapy?

I wish I could get a pair of what I bought in real life though. They were so cute! >.>

Also, I'm just now getting out of the habit of immediately buying Bioware DLC (sans weapons and clothes. That's just...awkward.). I'm proud of myself for not frothing at the mouth when the latest piece of DA2 dlc came out and I didn't buy it.

I'm trying!

I bought Warden's keep for DA:O but doesn't that come with some pretty useful stuff, I can't remember.

I also bought one weapon skin for Gears 3, I'm ashamed to say it.

DLC = ripoff (in 95% of all cases) and makes me want to go back to pirating shit again. In fact, i allready did that in the not-that-distant past.

now if were talking full-sized expansion packs, i would pay good money for those since those change the entire game or add something more to the entire game, not just 1 level/gun/map.

There are actually lots more bits of DLC for that game, too, mostly high-performance automobiles and heavily-armed assault vehicles.

Pretty shitty imo, but not remotely as blatantly "lol fuck you, gamer" as a gun that you flat-out cannot resupply without a fucking airdrop.

(I was drunk. I was drunk and fucking around on Steam at 4 in the morning. I'm not allowed to do that anymore, because I buy stupid shit when i am drunk and fucking around on Steam at 4am.)

Warden's Keep came with the deluxe edition and is now standard for any purchase of DA:O, it does have a full suit of armor, some cool weapons, the Starmetal sword (the random encounter that nets you starmetal is part of that DLC, the blacksmith who can forge it is at Warden's Keep) as well as the only Storage unit you can find in the entire game.

Plus, it was a full 2-hour long dungeon crawl.

honestly, as far as DLC goes, it was worth the money.

I think the insulting part of Warden's Keep (as defined in the article) was not in the content of the DLC but that the questgiver sets you up for what sounds like a cool sidequest and then goes NOPE YOU MUST PAY MONEY TO PROCEED.

THAT part was shitty. The DLC itself? Not so shitty.
