Seems there's a new cause for violent behaviour being found every week, sometimes its video games other times it's Justin Bieber's unfounded popularity. Today we have a new enemy in the war against violence.

Soft drinks. Also known as Soda and/or Pop.

What will be the next focal point for the War on Violence?
Lol, Reminds me of the infamous Twinkie Defence.
I think its time to ban skimpy clothes. Everyone know it causes rape... Wait? What do you mean it doesnt? What do you mean that individuals are to blame for their behavior? Thats preposterous.

I'm voting for High-fructose corn syrup. Enough of that blasted imitation, let's have the real thing. Damn quotas...
This. It's positively toxic stuff. Kill it all and use more fruit.
Why do people say this? It's just a fructose-sucrose mixture. The harmful part comes about only because it's cheaper than sugar, and so "food" and "beverage" companies just drown their products in the stuff. It's no worse for you than sugar. A little more complex to digest, maybe, but not really worse.
<link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_effects_of_High_Fructose_Corn_Syrup>You're right. But that's why it's toxic. It get's horrendously overused and thus has toxic effects because of it. Forcing use of normal sugar would be an effective way to reduce sweetness and the issues from eating sugar.

Although I have my doubts whether normal sugar has mercury, negligible amounts or not.

According to my extensive research, I have found one thing in common that all violent people do- they breath air! We must destroy all air then there will be no violence!
/sarcasm aside

People will blame anything and everything. It's all those people who despise violent video games and junk food so they try blaming them as the cause for all our problems. Human kind has had many problems, including violence for as long as we have been around and frankly, video games and soft drinks are relatively new inventions.

Also, I find it funny how many people are saying how certain stuff are good for your health and their statements are often just as much bullshit as the people who blame stuff for violence. There is always a new bullshit article on msn or something on the news that will say something like 'red wine proven to extend lifespan' or 'chocolate may cure cancer' or 'beer is good for your health' type of crap. They don't explain how and frankly it sounds more like they're trying to sell something or make people feel better about consuming such products.

I'm going to take everything I hear from a magazine that prides itself on its ability to delude people with a big fucking grain of salt.

I always just figured the intelligence pyramid was like the food chain pyramid. Each step is only 10% as large as the step below it. For every person who knows not to pay attention to sensationalist media, there are 10 who will believe anything they hear on TV. For each of those people, there are 10 who dont realize how full of shit advertisements are. For each of those people, there are 10 who don't know what propaganda is, or that it even exists. For each of those people, there are 10 who don't know what words mean.

My initial snarky response was going to be "ban the stupid people." Upon further reflection I realized what an enormous percentage of our population we would be ejecting from the playing field.

A recent study has shown that 100% of those who died of cancer last year included at least some water in their diets. Water is therefore the leading cause of cancer.
Scientist: Oh no! Humans are over 70% water!
We're all going to die!!!!!

Haven't heard of the Twinkie Defense.

Yeah people are to blame, but no one really likes taking responsibility when things go pear shaped and suddenly its all screaming and dying.

The Murder of A San Francisco Mayor and Hrvey milk.
Basically the guy who did it said he ate so much junk food(aka twinkies) that he had diminished capacity and could not be found accountable. Oh. And it held up. He only got 6 years in jail.

Violence is unfortunately an inseperable part of human nature- any war on it is gonna be as successful as a war on pornography, and any successful attempts are gonna be little better then a form of self mutilation.

Of all the things on this list, genetically modified wheat is probably what's going to get it next, with it's "mutant-wheat powers".

Wow... That's right up there with the Chewbacca Defense.

You'd think with all that sugar (or HFCS if anyone can verify this) his capacities would be somewhat more enhanced.

Surely, in the war on violence, the Next thing to ban is films. And Television, and books, and the internet, and games (except perhaps tetris and even then, its arguable). While you're at it, better get rid of paintings, and sports, and thought. To be safe, we'll get rid houses, and towns, and countries, and distance. And ownership, and government, and occupations, and gender, and race. Now that we've started, let's all move back to eden, and we'll trust god to do everything for us.

Just dont talk to snakey.

Anyone else find the phrase "war against violence" ironic? Seems kinda ... counterproductive.

Anyway! I say we all ban the 2012 apocalypse, because that'll definitely work.

This is what goes through my mind when I see the news nowadays.

I chose it for the irony value, I wanted to name it something that represented the collective reactive "intelligence" of the people trying to make the world a somewhat better place.

Well clearly you ban videogames and movies such as saving private ryan, a clockwork orange, and saw.

But seriously, ban weapons. In every country.
