Maybe don't buy the shovelware then? It exists on every format and the only reason the Wii has more is because it sold so well, leading third parties to jump on the bandwagon. The Wii has plenty of quality titles if you were willing to look past all the internet flaming going on.
Unfortunately, you forget what takes up shelf space in Gamestop and other stores: shovelware. When I want to go and pick up that Pheonix Wright game at Best Buy, oh, no luck, they don't have it because they have 5000 Hannah Montana clones taking up the shelf space.

In your opinion. The 360 probably has the strongest library of all the consoles, but the PS3? It has LBP that interests me, and although I hate MGS 4 I can see that it is well-recieved. By my count, that makes a total of two worthwhile exclusives. Motorstorm? Resistance? The very definition of 'meh'.
You seem to be forgetting the numerous amounts of quality games that only show up on the 360/PS3 and never see the light of day on the Wii. GTA4? PS3/360/PC, no Wii. The Orange Box? PS3/360/PC, no Wii. Call of Duty 4? PS3/360/PC, no Wii. Bioshock? PS3/360/PC, no Wii.

All you have to do is look at places like Metacritic to see that the PS3 and 360's libraries completely dominate the Wii in terms of quality, especially third-party quality. Library quality goes like this, at this present time.

360 > PS3 > Wii

Trauma Center? WarioWare? Okami? MK Wii? Umbrella Chronicles? Need I go on? No, not all of the Wii titles make epic use of the controller but not all of them need to.
Wow, you named like five titles out of the thousands that are out for the Wii. Nice job proving my point.

You assume just because a game seems dumbed down to you that everyone sees it that way?
Nope, I don't think everyone see's it that way. But just because they don't see it that way, doesn't mean it isn't true. Just because thousands of kids who tune into Hannah Montana don't consciously think "this is a kids show", doesn't mean it is anything less than a kids show.

This isn't something that is just happening with Nintendo. We're seeing this happen with other games and companies as well. Getting rid of the death mechanic. Getting rid of any mechanic that actually creates a challenge. Getting rid of any mechanic that actually makes you feel rewarded for overcoming.

Nintendo is just fueling this trend more than most.

If I wanted to get a game for my girlfriend, I wouldn't get her STALKER. The Wii manages to appeal to the casual audience while still keeping enough solid "hardcore" (that bloody word again) titles for those who are open-minded enough to look past all the shovelware. Honestly, you think bringing out DevilWorld is for the casual market? Have you seen the tactical depth to be drawn out of titles like SSBB and MK Wii? Those games have a hardcore following. Considering it has only been out 2 years the Wii has a considerable number of solid titles, granted not all massive innovations towards gaming, but still excellent, entertaining games nontheless.

Yes, thankfully there is a company gearing towards entertainment rather than polygon count.
Bullshit through and through. Casual games rarely ever find an audience with the hardcore gamer unless you can ratchet up the difficultly. That's why games like Wii Sports quickly become boring to gamers who desire something substantial when playing a game.

If you desire a gaming experience with any sort of depth and challenges, then the Wii is a complete failure when you compare it to the 360/PS3.

It's too bad that Nintendo can't seem to focus on making quality games anymore, rather than shoving out more shovelware crap like Mario Party 7521 or Mini-Game Waggle Collection 432 they can sell to casuals.

What? How is that bullshit? Spoken truly with the words of someone without the foggiest what they are talking about. Have you even played those games? They do focus on making quality games, sadly you seem too fixated on casual-bashing you can't see it. Countless quality games have been released, but as with EVERY CONSOLE EVER MADE there are vastly more inferior titles that are being released. A console sells well, 3rd parties jump on the bandwagon. It's just how it goes, get over it. Unbelievably, not every game on the Wii is a casual one. Try to see the big picture rather than jump on the "OMG CASUAL!" Bandwagon without thinking.

This is Nintendo's fault... how exactly? They don't make the majority of those games. They are nothing to do with Nintendo. Blame the developers, or blame the stores for stocking them. Go to different shops or, heaven forbid, use Amazon.

Well, no, you see. Like almost every single gamer I know, I own a Wii and a 360. Some own a PS3 and a Wii. Most own a decent PC and a Wii. Remember the massive PR war that broke out when the Wii was coming out between MS and Sony? Microsoft said everyone would buy a Wii to complement the 360. Sony said the Wii would do the same with the PS3. By and large, Microsoft were right so the majority of Wii owners can enjoy the Wii's superior first-party support and original IPs while still enjoying the 360s 3rd party library. No, not everyone has this luxury, but I'm willing to be a large portion of Wii owners do. If you just own a Wii, then there are more than enough top quality titles to keep the average open minded gamer satisfied.

For every good game that games out there will be 5 average or bad ones. It has always been this way, and the Wii is nothing new. The solution is simple - DON'T BUY THE BAD GAMES! So what if they're popular? You think Nintendo is thick enough to abandon Mario and Zelda, as well as their other classic titles, which make up some of the most successful franchises of all time? Don't make me laugh.

Erm, your point is...?

Well, they've realised it makes them money, any company would do the same. Try getting all the trophies on SSBB, then you'll see a challenge. As far as I know, not many games that traditionally had a death mechanic are losing them, and games still provide a good challenge. Pulling of a pixel perfect jump on Galaxy? Solving a tricky puzzle on Zelda? Killing a huge boss on Metroid Prime? Powersliding into pole position on the last corner on MK Wii? If you're talking about rewarding moments, Nintendo still does it best.

So, after that mountain of text, your only real point seems to be that the Wii has lots of casual games so it must be shit. I could reel off a 50-strong list of quality titles for the Wii, excluding WiiWare and VC titles, but I believe someone has already done that on this thread or another similar one, so I won't bother. Yes, the Wii has a lot of shit games. So does every console. This does NOT make it a console for stupid people. I have been gaming since the C64 days and thoroughly enjoy the Wii, because it has LOTS OF GOOD GAMES. If people would look past the 3rd party drivel they would see the quality that lies on the Wii, but unfortunately internet casual-flaming seems more important to them.
