Unfortunately, you forget what takes up shelf space in Gamestop and other stores: shovelware. When I want to go and pick up that Pheonix Wright game at Best Buy, oh, no luck, they don't have it because they have 5000 Hannah Montana clones taking up the shelf space.GuerrillaClock said:Maybe don't buy the shovelware then? It exists on every format and the only reason the Wii has more is because it sold so well, leading third parties to jump on the bandwagon. The Wii has plenty of quality titles if you were willing to look past all the internet flaming going on.
You seem to be forgetting the numerous amounts of quality games that only show up on the 360/PS3 and never see the light of day on the Wii. GTA4? PS3/360/PC, no Wii. The Orange Box? PS3/360/PC, no Wii. Call of Duty 4? PS3/360/PC, no Wii. Bioshock? PS3/360/PC, no Wii.GuerrillaClock said:In your opinion. The 360 probably has the strongest library of all the consoles, but the PS3? It has LBP that interests me, and although I hate MGS 4 I can see that it is well-recieved. By my count, that makes a total of two worthwhile exclusives. Motorstorm? Resistance? The very definition of 'meh'.
All you have to do is look at places like Metacritic to see that the PS3 and 360's libraries completely dominate the Wii in terms of quality, especially third-party quality. Library quality goes like this, at this present time.
360 > PS3 > Wii
Wow, you named like five titles out of the thousands that are out for the Wii. Nice job proving my point.GuerrillaClock said:Trauma Center? WarioWare? Okami? MK Wii? Umbrella Chronicles? Need I go on? No, not all of the Wii titles make epic use of the controller but not all of them need to.
Nope, I don't think everyone see's it that way. But just because they don't see it that way, doesn't mean it isn't true. Just because thousands of kids who tune into Hannah Montana don't consciously think "this is a kids show", doesn't mean it is anything less than a kids show.GuerrillaClock said:You assume just because a game seems dumbed down to you that everyone sees it that way?
This isn't something that is just happening with Nintendo. We're seeing this happen with other games and companies as well. Getting rid of the death mechanic. Getting rid of any mechanic that actually creates a challenge. Getting rid of any mechanic that actually makes you feel rewarded for overcoming.
Nintendo is just fueling this trend more than most.
Bullshit through and through. Casual games rarely ever find an audience with the hardcore gamer unless you can ratchet up the difficultly. That's why games like Wii Sports quickly become boring to gamers who desire something substantial when playing a game.GuerrillaClock said:If I wanted to get a game for my girlfriend, I wouldn't get her STALKER. The Wii manages to appeal to the casual audience while still keeping enough solid "hardcore" (that bloody word again) titles for those who are open-minded enough to look past all the shovelware. Honestly, you think bringing out DevilWorld is for the casual market? Have you seen the tactical depth to be drawn out of titles like SSBB and MK Wii? Those games have a hardcore following. Considering it has only been out 2 years the Wii has a considerable number of solid titles, granted not all massive innovations towards gaming, but still excellent, entertaining games nontheless.
Yes, thankfully there is a company gearing towards entertainment rather than polygon count.
If you desire a gaming experience with any sort of depth and challenges, then the Wii is a complete failure when you compare it to the 360/PS3.
It's too bad that Nintendo can't seem to focus on making quality games anymore, rather than shoving out more shovelware crap like Mario Party 7521 or Mini-Game Waggle Collection 432 they can sell to casuals.
