Was never going to buy it, still won't. For those of you who do? Best of luck, you're going to need it.

all i know right now is i don't plan to get any console at launch i plan to wait for second gen systems. on the used games stuff i'm not really sure what is going on here so no comment as of now. BC it's nice but not something that will make or break. the kinect stuff i hope is optional i like to play games with a normal controller or semi normal

Why would I replace a relatively new laptop that fulfills all my needs as a student just so I could play high-end games on it? I don't know how expensive laptops are where you're from, but getting one decent enough to handle games is way more expensive than whatever price the PS4 is going to come out as, and getting a new laptop would mean $800 was wasted on this one.
If you paid $800 for a notebook that can't play games at any setting they saw you coming a mile away, you got ripped off.

On Topic: Was never going to get one, Microsoft's fan base already showed them they can get away with pretty much anything. 30% failure rate? 50% failure rate? Microsoft will never tell, and it took them 2 revisions and nearly 6 years to "fix" it. Pay for the internet connection to ISP then pay again for the privilege of using Netflix and multi-player on XBox Live? Deliberately trying to shaft the PC crowd with their virus Games For Windows Live and attempt to turn everyone to their failure ridden box? Sure why not. Seeing what they have already done and and how vague they are being now with their talk of "We are listening to concerns" I am half expecting what the XBone really is will be far worse than what little they clarify at this point, actually I would be surprised if the XBone isn't far worse than expected.

There is a little joke around the office that if the XBone is successful the XBone 2: Re-Boned will likely scan your credit card when you pass by a demo system in a store automatically charge you for an XBone 2 and send it to your house, probably auto charge you for Windows 15 as well and start the "upgrade".

Is that enough to convince you it probably won't be worth it? If not I could find more.

I have an Xbox 360, I prefer consoles, and so I was more inclined towards the Nextbox than the PS4. Alas, the Nextbox turned out to be the Xbone in all its restrictive, multimedia-obsessed glory, and as such, unless they seriously backpedal, there's no way I'm going near it.

This is Sony's generation to win, as long as they don't try to match the Xbone in anti-consumer idiocy.

Waiting for E3 to see what everyone does, and see what Xbone exclusives I'll have to lament not having (hopefully none).

I was keeping an open mind and the presentation has closed my mind with a resounding 'bang'.

I wasn't intending to get one, but if the PS4 was this and the Xbox was a straight games console, with no DRM, no mandatory peripherals and free online, I'd have considered it.

270 out of 279 people aren't getting it? If this reflects the general public opinion, Microsoft is Xboned (now I see the connection).
Its hard to judge that because:

1.This is a gaming website;

2.163 (as of right now) people were never going to get it. Not based on the fact that they *don't play video games* but based on the fact that they prefer another console/PC.

For this to be accurate I would think that we would have to poll people who might get it, but are otherwise uniformed.

Still interesting to see what the general consensus of the forum is.

Ive baught every console available to me at the time throughout the generations since the 80's, this is the first time im not packing a picnic and not lining up outside the store on release date. infact i may even wait until they release the 2nd gen slim series, if its not a total failure by then.

I would get one... if they got rid of the always online, the required Kinect, and the used game restriction. Otherwise, PS4 and PC for me.

Edit: Actually PS4 is a bit iffy too. I definitely won't be getting one at launch.

I never intended to buy one, never liked the Xbox line, now, even less so.

Also, I'm to broke to have to get like 7 or 8 of the damned things if the 360 is anything to go on

If at E3 they announce Crackdown 3, Just Cuase 3, Fallout 4, some special, truly next-gen version of GTA 5, and The Elder Scrolls 6 among those "15 exclusive games" then yes, I'll buy one.
But that won't happen.
So no.

that didn't add anything to what i know so as of now i'm not jumping on the hate bandwagon for all i know i may never get on it. i don't care if it requires a kinect to be plugged in i just care if i can hide it and forget about it

Hey, I'm holding off on a definite opinion until E3. I think everyone else should, too. Until we see the exclusives, there's no call for jumping the gun.
E3...

Just say "Viva Pinata 3".

Come on Microsoft. Hook a brother up.

I don't think this poll can be used for "scientific" purposes, but I do agree it's interesting that the opinion here has swayed so heavily against the Xbone.

I've been a Microsoft gamer since the original Xbox, where it's focus on more mature games convinced me to jump ship from Nintendo. The Xbox 360 felt like simply more of the same - but better. And, frankly, it's my favourite gaming console of all time - though the 3DS is damn close and getting closer.

The Xbone, however, is walking away from what I consider important. It's pretty obvious that a lot of people here feel much the same. To me, it isn't that the console can do TV or any of it's other stuff. It's that I'd have to pay for things I'd never use, and things that I consider unethical. Consoles aren't cheap, and so I have to spend money where I know I'll get a good return on my investment.
The Xbone just doesn't look like it's going to deliver the kind of value I need, considering at least a third of the asking price is for shit I don't want, and for things I believe are going to hurt the video game industry as a whole.

I've never been a Playstation fan, but it's quite obvious that the Playstation 4 is a gaming device - especially when Sony's CEO says exactly that. It can do a whole heap of additional media functions too, which I'll probably use at some point, but it's focus ensures that it'll be home to the best games on the market. So, that's where my money goes.
And hell, if Sony play their cards right, I might even end up with a Vita - because remote play is something I'd use far more than I'm willing to admit here.
