There has to be homework. There simply isn't enough time during the school day to get all your essays and stuff done. If you did remove it you'd have to increase the length of the school day by a significant amount. But that would hardly be an ideal solution. Having work which you need to complete in your own time is a valuable training activity, and it is essential that people get used to it, since any after school education and many jobs will also require you to do work after hours.

Homework works. I've experienced schools with both and I can honestly say, as much as it sucks sometimes, that taking away homework would make this generation even dumber (like that's possible). Here's hoping it stays.

yeah, no. Homework teaches time-management skills, WHICH ARE FUCKING IMPORTANT, and not taught well in the school environment.
I bet the majority of the people whom voted 'yes' are children.

I think homework as it is now is pretty pointless. If I can ignore every bit of homework I'm given and still ace the tests, then it shouldn't be a detriment to my grade that I didn't do the homework.

Homework should not be the bulk of the schooling that you do. It can be a very effective tool for further cementing ideas that you should be TAUGHT in class by a TEACHER; you know, because that's kind of the entire point of the matter.

I've had teachers that wouldn't even check the homework; they just gave you a credit if you did it and a zero if you didn't. I could've handed in a paper that said dicks dick dicks dicks dicks and still gotten the credit.

I don't really mind homework. It has helped me quite a bit before, but at other times it wasn't ery helpful. But looking at that petiton, I think he needs to do some...

I don't see why Homework is so bad to be honest. Yeah, if you leave it til the day before it's due in because you've been slacking off and being lazy, then you're gonna hate it. Also chances are you're not gonna remember half of the stuff you need to be able to complete the homework. It's why you do homework the day you get it - then it doesn't seem so bad at all 'cause then you can just slack off and do what you want.

That, and if you don't have homework, you'll just have more time at school.

I'm sure none of you would like that. =P
