Yes, because then it can become monotonous. Take for example Owl City, I heard his music when he was big in america but not as well known here in the UK. I enjoyed it and thought it was some great music and like many got the album, although it wasn't continuously on my playlist. Then it started playing religiously on the music channels, then the radio, then on adverts, then in music shops etc.
