Retards who use their mobile phone at the wheel. Pay attention to the road you f**king wanker. Don't mind handsfree, but otherwise, it's asking for an accident.

As a pedestrian, I fucking hate it when cars stop on a crossing at an intersection because they want to get that one bit further, so you got to walk around their car, usually the front. Which can be dangerous if the driver is a meat head who keeps trying to inch forward anticipating light changes.

Driving on the highway, someone is going really slow so you try and get around them and only then they decide to speed up to match your speed, making it harder to pass.

All of the above. The worst I find is when people go either 20 under the limit or constantly adjust their speed thus causing me to have to constantly adjust my speed. Also people who go into an overtaking lane and either slow down or keep pace with the car next to them.

Also cyclists and all their bullshit. They put everyone at risk.

All of the above. Driving -- or rather, the obvious stupidity and inconsideration humans are so eager to display while driving -- fills me with a seething, volcanic hatred for all living things. If I could push a button and vaporize every driver between me and my house, I'd do it every day.

I have developed a serious issue with folks who do not move to the side of the road they're turning into. If you need to turn please make sure you allow enough space for people going straight to keep going without having to wait for you to take your corner.

I'm an incredibly considerate driver, I will give as much space as I possibly can to allow people to move around me. I hug the side of roads if I'm going to turn and I do so well before I make my turn so the person behind me doesn't need to slow down at all. If someone has to break to a speed under the speed limit because of me then I have failed as a driver.

The other thing that pisses me off are 50km/h zones. Just make them 60, please. The difference in safety between 50km/h and 60km/h is so tiny and if 60km/h scares you while driving you shouldn't be on the fucking road in the first place.

This is such a good thread for having a rant, i just keep agreeing with everything

How DARE you OP for giving me a reason to vent!(but thanks, I'll let it all out)

It's called a buffer zone, although I only read it in the motorcycle riders handbook. It is suggested that riders create a full car length in front of them when stopped at traffic lights. Not sure what the suggested distance is for cars though...
im not a rider, ive been told by a lot of my friends who are experienced riders that i drive as if i ride a bike. I always tend to leave a gap between the car in front. when the traffic is slow moving if everyone left a reasonable gap the traffic would actually move quicker. people just assume that if they edge up to the car infront the traffic will move quicker but more than likely the traffic is backed up because of a lane closure or a busy junction where people are changing lanes. If you leave a gap then people can freely change lanes without having to back up the whole flow of traffic

i hate people who are in the right hand (left hand outside of the UK) lane and they see a bike or a fast car behind them and instead of pulling into the middle lane for a mere second (without even having to slow down) to let them pass they carry on. I tend to do this with bikers all the time unless they drive too close behind me then i go out of my way to not let them pass.

Going for inconsistent speed myself. I mean, seriously, how hard is it when you're on a an interstate to just pick a speed and throw the cruise on? Even if you're going slower than the limit, if you've got your cruise set to something I'll usually just shrug it off and set mine about the same, but if you're going 55, then 65, then 60, then 58, then 62, I start getting annoyed because I hate having to constantly adjust my cruise

So one thing I'm noticing in this thread is a lot of people complaining about people not using cruise control. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you've all been from the US, because at least in Australia, cruise control really isn't very common at all, even in very new cars (or at least, this has been my experience). Don't ask me why.

Otherwise, the two things that frustrate me the most;

People consistently doing 10km/h under the speed limit, especially past speed cameras. Guys, you get 10% leeway, you will not set off the camera if you're doing the speed limit according to your speedo. Besides that - look, I can't afford to go for leisurely drives, usually when I'm driving I'm driving to get somewhere on time, your slow ass isn't helping and is just making things harder for everybody.
I see a lot of older drivers doing this. Look, I understand how painful it is to lose your independence, but if your eyesight is failing or your reflexes are stating to wane, it's time to stop driving. I know it sucks, but what you're doing is extremely dangerous.

The other big one is people not indicating, or indicating late. Holy crap genius, you're driving a huge chunk of metal driving at significant speeds and you are not the only person on the road. We need to know what the hell you're doing in order to not die.

For some reason, driving makes me irrationally angry and aggressive...

All this said, I am not immune to doing really, really dumb things. I generally try to contain my stupidity, but it doesn't always happen.

What i hate are people that ***** when they are caught speeding and fined by speed cameras and complain that those cameras are there just to make money. You know what, dont go over the limit dumb asses. lol.

it would help if the limits werent so slow, i can fully understand 30 in a built up area (weve all seen the "if you hit me at 40" campaign). however nation speed limit roads and motorways being limited to 60 and 70 respectively is a bit on the low side to me. My car produces 200 horses and weighs 1.2 tons and it bugs me that i dont get to use it to its full potential

Impatient/Aggressive drivers piss me off more than anything. Like in a merging situation, these drivers typically drive 20-30 kmph faster than the speed limit just to be first. Also people that cut you off when you are trying to enter the road from a parking spot.
Drivers that accelerate too fast that they skid their tyres or make so much sound from their cars its irritating. And of course the non indicators.

Distracted driving. It usually leads to... 4 of the problems you listed. Most people don't multitask nearly as well as they think they do. I don't care if it's a phone call, the radio, need to load your pipe, whatever... either ignore it or pull the fuck over.

Also...

Guilty. although i dont like wheelspinning because tyres are expensive and clutches are astronomically expensive. However my car loves to rev so i have a lot of engine noise when accelerating

Auckland is a very hilly city. It's seldom you will have a direct line of sight to your destination, let alone the street it is on, until you are within 20 meters of the street.

Being so hilly we essentially have many little "gulley" and the roads will go down into a "gulley" and then lead directly out of a "gulley". This results in a relatively steep downwards slope and then a relatively steep incline. A fuel conscious individual will use the downward slope to accelerate on, in order to give them the needed momentum to ascend the immediate incline. This can frequently result in drivers accelerating to just above the speed limit by about 10kmph/5mph as the incline will naturally slow any vehicle.

And those fuckers from the council put the damn speed camera right in the middle of the fucking gulley! Aimed at that point where you will be going faster than normal in order to ascend the incline - allowing the hill to naturally slow you down via gravity - while not driving in a more dangerous manner.

Ive seen that many a time all over the UK too. The UK police also have a habit of spawn camping literally on a speed limit sign. As a savvy motorist going from 60 to 30 you will try to maximise engine braking (assuming you are a real human being and drive a manual) and reduce wheel braking so your probably doing about 40-45 when you pass the sign gradually slowing to 30 and theres a cop sat literally on the sign waiting with a speed gun and they wonder why people lose respect for the police

Theres other times when ive been on the motorway and its slowed to 50 for roadworks which is ok during the day when the builders are pretending to work but in the evening they are still active it doesnt make sense

60MPH->30MPH? We at least have "staggered" reductions of 100 -> 80 -> 60 -> 50 spread out over at least 500 meters each.

Congratulations, you win the arsehole traffic control officials reward.

In Australia at least, the law is that you have to have reduced your speed to the limit before the speed sign. Doesn't really seem like a legitimate complaint to me, to be honest.

Driving too slow. Being stuck behind someone when you're trying to get somewhere is infuriating, never more so than when they're in the fast lane too.

If you drive slow and you stick to the slow lane fair enough, but those who kid themselves that they belong in the fast lane really rile me!!

Same as those people who don't go for a green light and dawdle until it turns to red.

And those who take forever to pull away at a traffic light, some so much so that by the time they've started to move the light has almost changed again.

Cunts.
you sound like the kind of person who would follow really close behind me and I purposely inconvenience you as a reaction

so what I find most annoying, because it happens so often is people driving so close behind me. I drive at the Speed Limit or maybe 2 less or something, then I see people moving 60Kph in a 50 zone. I can see it with other drivers as well, people driving sooo close to other vehicles in my line of sights, gah! what pests.

yes, I'm sure you will follow your own advice when you get old
