So, I just recently started playing online multiplayer and have gotten addicted to the modes in Battlefield Bad Company 2. Normally I avoid multiplayer like the plague for the usual reasons, but BC2's rush mode is just so much fun. If you don't know (and that means you probably live beneath the surface of the Earth), rush means you and your team/platoon are fighting to destroy/defend communications nodes to allow for or to stop an enemy invasion.
I enjoy the objective based multiplayer and I enjoy that the gameplay. Each class (assault, medic, etc) is both broken and overpowered in their own little ways so it all comes out kinda even.
But as with anything, there are things that really, really get under my skin. Personally, I love sniping, so getting counter-snipered or having somebody sneak up and knife me is frustrating. To be honest, getting counter-snipered thirty times in a row (no joke) caused my first rage quit. Ahhh...good times.
So I'm just curious what annoys everybody else. It can be anything from gameplay to map design.

I should also point out that I don't mean things that break the game or degrade it. Just things that when they happen just peeve you. I hate getting counter-snipered but after I'm through screaming at the top of my lungs I remember its all in good fun and that I've probably killed that sniper bastard before too. Still doesn't mean I have to like it at first though.
As to broken games, Modern Warfare 2 could take hours to discuss. The maps alone are something out of an MC Escher nightmare, but thats a different thread.

Yeh gotta say Battlefield Bad Company 2 is one of the best online games I have ever played; better than MW2 - easily.

It's just so much fairer; my only problem is that there aren't enough maps but that's just because my brother stole my VIP code and used it on his account so I'd have to buy it and i cba so its my fault anyhow.

Seriously awesome game; should start a forum on how awesome the game is (and why it is so underrated) instead of this.

Hah, probably the thing that irks me the most about BF:BC2 is Rush itself. Call me a traditionalist, though I prefer my Battlefield to be Conquest - incidentally, I wasn't that large of fan of Titan in BF2142 either, though it at least was more similar to Conquest then Rush is.

The complete lack of teamwork in most servers. Although that makes me more sad than annoyed.

And I definitely prefer Conquest to Rush, in Conquest there's five control points instead of two, so there's less camping. But then again, I never play sniper.

The thing that "irks" me the most is when you spend ten minutes sprinting to an objective, thinking nobody saw you, and as soon as you arrive you're greeting with a shotgun blast to the face. It's just a miniscule issue for an otherwise fantastic game.

THAT!

I hate snipers on that game, you will be the attacks and normally about half your team will be snipers, and they will never go near the objectives. Hell they won't even bomb them with mortars. Hell, they won't even be good at sniping, how often have you looked up a snipers name in the matches leaderboard to find him right at the bottom with all the other dust gatherers.

I hate snipers :) It's a shame because I'm actually good at it, and still fuck up the objective but their's always far too many already for me to think it's fair on my team.

People who don't understand how to actually play towards meeting an objective.

Or

When your team is doing bad in general and it screws up your own performance i.e everyone on your team is in your spawn as recon so when ever you try to go out and take some ground you get your ass shot before you can even get halfway to an objective.

Ohhh, I can't stand players who use a Shotgun with the Recon Class. They take the only class capable of long range warfare and turn him into an assualt class with a Gillie suit and a Mortar Strike and the only reason for doing so is to raise their Recon class as fast as possible. On the upside, I'm really good as an Engineer and that balances it out.

There are only 3 things wrong with the game that i noticed (on 360 anyway those of you on PC or PS3 may have different gripes)

1.The ridiculous amount of people picking the sniper class and refusing to change.
When you`re defending on rush it`s alright it`s when your on the attacking team and your having to take the fight to the enemy on you lonesome whilst the rest of your team sits on a plateau thinking they`re playing team deathmatch it gets rather fustrating i like the sniper class too but someone`s got to go blow up the com stations or we`re going to lose

2.The fact that no-one has a mic.
Bye bye tactics

3.The fact that you can use squad spwan on the objective.
Look squad spawn is a great idea for getting you back into the fight , but you go to kill one man who`se planting a bomb and four more spawn right behind you time after time it gets annoying , perhaps limiting the range until the when the attackers fall below a certain amount of tickets would be better? that said it`s pretty funny when you throw a grenade at a man`s feat and kill four people.

/rant

on the plus side the victory animations after each round are a real neat touch and help to give you an understanding as to what you acheived as opposed to a sudden that`s it , you won/lost

My only real complaints are:
1. Teams made up of mostly snipers. Its no fun for anybody when everybody but 2 people are sitting back thinking that they're helping. It should be 1 or 2 snipers, not 1 or 2 of anything else.

2. Lack of communication/incompetent teammates. When people don't communicate at all, that kinda bothers me in a game based heavily on teamwork. Even spotting enemies is helpful, but some people don't get it. While I'm complaning about teammates, some people either don't grasp objectives or are truly incompetent. I hate it when I'm defending on Rush and most of my teammates go to the very front, leaving me alone to stop everyone on the other team smart enough to work together and properly use a transport helicopter. Likewise, after 5 minutes of the same helicopter attacking us over and over, you think they would at least fire a rocket or two at it....

/rant

Thank god I generally play with my friends in a squad, all of us with mics. It pretty much negates both of my complaints, making BC2 one of the best games out there.

Nothing's more disappointing than loading your squad into a helicopter, manning the guns, and getting ready to wreak havoc with your flying, heavily armed spawn point, when the pilot suddenly remembers he flunked flight school and jumps out without warning. If you can't pilot a damn chopper, don't get in one.

I also hate people who think tanks are mobile artillery pieces, and just sit back shooting tank shells from afar, hoping to hit something.

I have to add on to that "helicopter ballistic missile" thing. It's when your team uses that tactic, except the helicopter doesn't blow up, and instead gets stolen. Cue 15 minutes of trying to shoot the damn thing down

Other than that and some minor lag issues on my side, I have to admit it's a great game, and much less annoying than MW 2

I'd also like to mention the fact that even though we've seen it in videos, weapons like the M14 and G3 can't have scopes. Not being able to blow out interior walls is a bit annoying too

Agreed on the sniper overuse. I love playing as recon class on occasion (Atacama desert anyone :)), and don't have punkbuster so don't rank and get the shiny toys. But I play fairly agressively, supporting team mates, and don't camp, nor hide in obvious places. And yes, I can actually hit stuff... If I get counter-sniped the number of times the guy stays in the same place after he's shot and I go back and snipe him from a different angle... Shheeesh man this is my first time playing an FPS online but I have common sense already...

Otherwise, yeah, playing rush on that snowy map with the dodgy spawn (forgot the name for the moment, you come in on parachute and all the opposing team needs to do is camp half competently around the choke points at the bottom of the hill)- and half your team is sitting on top of a hill sniping, most of them without any skills to even hit long range.

Grrr. :D

Some people don't seem to realise the objectives actually mean things.

Tank whores is another.

Poor helicopter pilots who jump in thinking 'this looks like fun' don't know how to fly and kill a couple of members of the team crashing within 50m of the pad.

Squads don't seem to count for anything but hey.

To be honest, BC is a really good game, it's the human flaws (and we all have them ;)) we can't do anything about, for the most part.

Conquest is my favourite, agreed on prev. points.

/rant /''constructive criticism'' ;)

When you get killed, you watch a killcam type thing, which is unskippable. It pisses me right the fuck off, it's like they're gloating! And it's been helpful precisely once. In my 48 hours of playing, once. Damn it.

Logging into a game only to get the "your team lost" message 10 seconds later. I can live with it I guess since BC2 is so great at quickly finding a match to throw you into - but if a match is that close to ending I'd rather wait it out. Maybe let us watch instead for the last few minutes? I always seem to end up on the losing team in those cases, I guess because that's the team folks have bailed on opening up a slot for me.
