North Korea

It's like Nazi Germany, right down to the funny looking leader.

South Korea's fine though. It's like Japan except less fun at parties and not as insane.

Depends on what Korea you're talking about. North Korea but with America as a close second.

I really just don't like America because, A: Our government makes everyone else in the world hate us, and B: The majority of America is retarded.

I would say America, because they are stuck on issues like Abortion, Gun Control and Secularism, while most of the other nations pretty much solved the issues long ago. But hey, this is from a Canadian, but I don't hate Americans, I just think they should have ended those topics a while ago.

(P.S. When mentioning Korea, do you mean North or South? I'm from the South, and sure our political system sorta sucks, but overall, it isn't that bad)
Well, you do have to consider the fact that our country is a bit younger than most. And while we could've been solving those problems, we've been a bit busy. From our birth to the 1800's we were busy establishing ourself as a nation, declaring war on every power in the same general area as ourselves, and expanding our borders. From 1800's-1900's, we were busy argueing over slavery, fighting each other in the bloodiest war of our history, abolishing slavery, and being very racist to the freed slaves, even if we were one of the people who wanted to free them. From 1900's-2000, we were busy dealing with black people and women wanting equal rights (Ha Ha! Silly black people and women. Everyone knows equal rights don't exist), joining wars other countries started, claiming we were the sole reason our side won those wars (Even though we did little to nothing), fighting communism (for some pointless reason), and trying to get to the moon (Again... pointless...) And now we're busy with a failing economy, fighting a war with two Middle Eastern countries at the same time while ignoring the group of people who attacked us, starting said wars, and playing video games.

So Canada, how did you spend the last 3 years? Free Healthcare? What a waste of time...

In any case, if there's one country I cannot stand, it's China. If not for job outsourcing and the like, our economy wouldn't be nearly as bad. Granted, more jobs are outsourced to India than China, but China's communist and, by American logic, much more evil than India. Plus, their oppressive, totalitarian government is actually threatening, as opposed to the harmless and comical oppressive, totalitarian government in North Korea.

Why?

OT: I hate American's government because of how same sex marrige is looked down upon.

And Britain's because like someone above me said, our government is run by idiots.
Why? I'll tell you why. I can't stand these hater threads. There are way too many flame wars on the escapist these days. Everyone knows that this thread is intended to show how many people hate America. You know what? If you guys want to complain about us on how fucked up we are, maybe you should go outside and look around!
Uhm, I actually even admitted how my own country is screwed up in a way too.

And if you honestly think it's intended to show up only America then you're either really paranoid, or deep down you believe America does deserve its own amount of hate. Just remember you're not the only one

And I don't see this as a flame war, not yet anyway.
Disaster,

But don't you think he's got a point? Threads like these don't exactly inspire honest and insightful debate. They seem to be geared towards slamming others with a bunch of unfounded stereotypes. For instance, I don't really understand what you mean by "the American government looks down on same-sex" marriage. Now, correct me if I am wrong but I am assuming you are from the UK. If that is so, why would you look down on the US considering that the UK doesn't allow same-sex marriage either? Again, I may have my facts wrong on UK laws, but they allow civil unions, right? Not same-sex marriage? Yet, in the US some states allow marriage and some allow civil unions. So, what I am getting at is that it doesn't seem to be fair, or at the very least a pretty harsh judgment on all Americans.

And, I just wanted to point out that I am not trying to pick on you or anything. It's just that I am tired of the constant barrage of statements of hate geared towards millions of people based on inaccuracies. Actually, I should pick on the Aussie that made the redneck statement. I mean an Aussie complaining about rednecks in another country (other than their own)? Pot, kettle, black :)

I do think he has a point, and I agree threads like this do inspire flame wars and not worthwile debate (for the most) but the fact that he tihnks it's all geared towards America is ridiculous. The OP contains alot more than just America, and people have mentioned more than America, myself included. The only reason I didn't include countries other than America or the UK is because I am only familiar with those two.

And yeah I'm from the UK and I believe we do offer same sex marriages. Although if we don't then I would also despise my government for that, as well as Americas. Besides this thread was about governments, not Americans in general. I'm a fair person, I judge all people (or governments) on their own merits and flaws. And in my book not allowing same sex marrige is a flaw regardless of the country.

I do think he had a point, as do you. I just think you delivered yours in a more rational and less aggressive way

Luxembourg. You never hear anything about them and that's why I don't trust them. It wouldn't surprise me if the few people that live there are currently plotting world domination...

Seriously though, this thread is useless and only causes flamewars and stereotyping.

Threads fueled by hatred are never, ever a good idea. Well, not much fueled by hatred ever is. Mods, please lock this topic.

Five free Western democracies. Two progressive, modern, First World countries in East Asia. And a brutally repressive Communist regime that has no compunctions about exporting poison to the Western world and threatening to bust out the nukes if we cry about it.

How any of you could pick any nation other than China proves that the voting age should probably be raised to 30.
Just Because a country is a democracy it doesn't make it all sweetness and light. Plus I wouldn't class North Korea as a "progressive modern First world Country".
When I see "Korea", I tend to think South Korea unless it specifically says North. And as for democracy being sweetness and light, it sure as hell is (even the pathetic mock-up excuse we've got for it in the USA) compared to open dictatorship and fascist police state. Bad democracy beats fascism nine times out of ten, if only because good despotism went by the boards after World War I.

I picked Canada because the healthcare SUCKS. One of my mates actually moved to America because his family has a whole bunch of medical problems, and it was too dangerous for them to stay in Canada with their shotty healthcare.

Yeah.
I think the problem is half the people. We have given every single president enormous amounts of undeserved disrespect. Of course I give Obama a jab occasionally so maybe I'm not one to talk. On the other hand maybe it's the media's fault for always demonizing the politicians.

Nigeria. It's where nearly all spammers/scammers come from. They've got one of the most corrupt governments in the world and their economy is a joke, yet they've got a relatively high level of education amongst its people, and because of the corruption and poor economics, it's a breeding ground for scam artists.

At one of my old jobs, I had to deal with these people on a daily basis. I have no sympathy for them.

I ended up voting for France, because I do dislike the place, but for a very superficial reason: Why, in the name of God, can that country, despite being the country that produced the Marquis De Sade and Phantom of the Opera, not produce a decent horror movie? Seriously, with the exception of Vidocq, Brotherhood of the Wolf, and Eyes Without A Face, (two of which are just action movies with horror elements) they haven't produced anything that comes close to even the weakest of euro-horror. There is simply no excuse for it.
