Then there are the team-mates that seem determined to start fights with you. I was playing Halo 3 with my brother. We found ourselves partnered with a pair of Americans. They checked our locations, and straightaway, off with the British jokes.
They were none too impressed when I responded to a mum joke with a 'If you fit through the door-frame, she's all yours.'

I got a lot of criticisms. Apparently, they've heard fat jokes all their lives.
I wasn't surprised, to put it simply.
This makes me sad to be american. It's even worse because I've played americans in halo three that immediately jump on my nick or start the game just being general asses (singing badly and loudly into their mike, talking about team killing and then doing it, etc.) Now I pretty much mute all online games on principle (if anyone has mikes and is using them).

Noobtubers, Even in battlefield they're fucking annoying.

I unload 3/4ths of a clip into some chump and from 5 feet away he hits me with a grenade from the launcher and I die, and he lives. It's BULLSHIT. I'm not even a competitive player, it's just irritating when you've got half your ammo in someone's face and you die because they shot you with a grenade at CLOSE RANGE. They should be in itty bitty pieces when they do this.

I don't even want to hear the MW2 Noobtubers side of the story, you get two shots wah wah. Then you instantly respawn and DO IT AGAIN.
I know exactly how you feel, Snotperson (which I hope you like because I'm calling you that), grenade launchers are annoying, makes the CS: S AWP feel like a weapon requiring skill.

[sub]Go Bullpup! >_>\o/[/sub]
I've been called Snotrocket, Snot nor rock, whatever works :U

I don't really care about the whole "skill" thing, what I care about is this stupid weapon isn't meant for this and it's just abused. The grenade should bounce if fired at such short range, you know, back into their skull blowing THEM up and letting me escape with 2 less HP.

People.

Unless, of course, all those morons manage to find themselves on the other team. Even then, they're still most likely playing like cheap bastards and completely ruining the game for everyone else.

I almost fell the need to request another option, the "13 year old american kids who wont shut up, and cant play the game". you all know who i mean, if you are not a 13 year old american kid who wont shut up, and cant play the game you hate them. and if you are a 13 year old etc etc then please listen, I have no deisre to listen to you chat bollox about anything that floats through what it pleases you to call your brain I just want to play MW2.

Polls about things that ruin online gameplay.

And Americans who try to argue with you because your accent isn't local. You can't even argue back, you get stuck on the same fucking argument for hours on end till I say something really outlandish and offensive. Then you put my rating down, toward which I reply "you started it"

Little kids and stupid teammates tie at a close second, because I hate people, and everything else can be overcome if you have enough skill, but glitchers are scum that need to be eaten by satan and shat into the deep inferno that is hell were you are tortured until death, and revived to do it all over again. As I said everything else can be overcome with skill, but someone who abuses flaws in the game can win even if they suck so hard their own penis comes out their mouth when they play.

If you play World of Warcraft, and ever entered into a PUG Karazhan run, then you know how I feel about "stupid teammates". Thus, that is what I voted. But I'm thinking that it kind of falls inbetween "stupid teammates" and "little kids". I don't really have enough experience with online shooters to say anything about them.

Alternative hated entities:
Spammers, ragers, gold sellers, people who can't communicate... The list goes on.

In all honesty, i ruined online play for myself by taking it too seriously. Caught myself using terms like noob-tube for the first time ever and realised it was time to take a break. Thank you Borderlands, for putting the fun back into shooters!

i voted little kids because it's the only option i thought was truly universal for any online game. However, I do think it depends on the online game. Dual wielding i think contributed to making Modern Warfare 2 suck. Glitchers, campers and stupid teammates made most Battlefield games suck on some servers... So it's all pretty dependant on the game.

WoW sucks for the way gear is now too easy to procure on endgame, making a lot of noob players have good gear and fuck up raids because of incompetence...

Bad Company 2 sucks because it looks like a watered down version of the original Battlefield games. (not to mention a Modern Warfare cloning attempt)

You may want to add Lack of Customization to your list.

Glitchers.
You can mute a mic spammer, you can make little kids rage quit and if you're good enough you can get past stupid teamates (depending on how many other competent players there are and teamsize).
But those damn glitchers... especially in glitches where they become unkillable but can still decimate your team.
