Why is it that the gaming industry has quiet literally taken a step back in game quality? It was apon playing Soul Calibur 4 and Tekken 6 that I realized that there preivous installments where significantly better and more user friendly. This should'nt be. It's like when the console generations upgraded the games seemed to go in the shitter.

Dose anybody have a good reason for this? And I don't mean oh they have to leave out things for the graphics because thats not good enough. Not to mention the looks of games are shit unless you have the specific TV they made the game for.

Like the movie, literature, and music industries, they've forgotten how to not mass-produce the same shit over and over again. Yeah, that sums it up.

Decrodation? What does that mean?

Oh and I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but I think this generation is better than any of the other ones. It's just that everyone only remembers the good games from past generations.

If decrodation is anything like degradation then I would have to say that I'm not disappointed with games today. Sure today's games have a lot more crap... but a lot of them continue to be awesome.

Did you ever think it may be because as we grow up, we become more critical about videogames? And quality stays relatively same, but our standards increase? I mean, NES games were not particulary "user-friendly" either. They were ludicrously difficult, you know?

By definition, any new gaming 'generation' will be better than any that has come before it, because all the predecessors are still there to be enjoyed alongside the cream of the current crop. I can go from Gears Of War to Donkey Kong Country anytime I want, for example.

Also, every iteration of games hardware will produce its fair share of crap: people tend to overlook that in favour of rose-tinted nostalgia.

EDIT: correction no longer necessary.

with ones have been awsome this year. And show your work
Are you asking which games I have enjoyed this year? Well to be honest I haven't bought to many this year because I haven't felt the need to. I have such a vast library of video games now that I rarely feel the need to purchase a new one.

Off the top of my head, some games from this year that I enjoyed are; Borderlands,Left 4 Dead 2, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II , and Killing Floor. There are plenty of other good games that have come out, but I haven't played them.

It is what is commonly known as "Madden Syndrome"; i.e. the Madden series is the same game with minor tweaks. The development companies (many people seem to forget that gaming is still a business) realize that they can make more money by releasing lower-quality games with a greater frequency. Also, the Wii and PS3 dev kits can be hard to develop for accounting for some faulty controls.

Also, your grammar and spelling make me cry.

Not trying to put down your OP, but those games are VERY poor examples to support your opinion because they are unnecessary sequels that hardly added/changed the gameplay of the previous games in their respective franchises, so you can't illustrate this generation with those games. There are plenty of good games today that make up for the waves of crap. Actually you may think that this generation has less quality because there are not that many original games out anymore. Most of the good games today are either direct/spiritual sequels of past-generation games, or resemble games of past generations.

Your answers perplex me. Should it not be that the game must wait a year for a good game to come out? Plus the first part of your answer was may point SantoUno.

What does that even mean? I don't get what you are trying to say. Are you suggesting that a game has to wait a year for a sequel to be released? Or are you talking about something else? How is this even relevant?

Well that and the fact that far too many of us are willing to buy their mass-produced shit.

And I still maintain that the previous console generation was the best one there ever was or will be.

Give me one reason why it shouldn't. So long as the sequel is good, it doesn't matter when it is released.

My point with the minor old game quote is that when an older game from the same series is better and longer then the new generations installmetn something is very wrong.
