I really gotta say i agree.. I grew up in the SNES years.. but i didnt play the SNES see my parents didnt like video games but i did start playing the Dreamcast and the N64 over at my cousins house and less than a year later i got a PS1. So Yes i am disappointed.. There are 0 games in my opinion that truly stand out in this generation.. The only thing it has going for it is improved technology. But they dont use it to its full potential instead they produce piles of crap one after another.

Eventually gamers will unite and stop buying this garbage... Then they will be forced to make games worth buying.. Until then i am not going to give there greedy asses a cent! PIRACY UNTIL THE DAY MY MONEY IS WORTH SPENDING!!! I bought every single one of my PS1 and N64 games.. because i knew they were worth my money.. I just dont have that faith that i used to.. Its sad but when i go to some kind of game store i expect to be disappointed..

The only people that think these games are good are the current generation.. I say this to you current generation pick up a SNES some time try some of the more famous games on it.. Shouldn't take you more than 20 seconds to come to the same conclusions i have.. But im not one sided i do see a lot of potential in this market still i just dont see the talent.. And i have played most modern games.. I actually spent all day yesterday on COD: WAW... so yeah.. the multiplayer games are where its at for this generation..

You just cant expect worth a damn a good puzzle/Adventure/RPG/Whatever else i forgot genres.. Multilayer shooters is where its at.. Oh and the story's are either non exist ant have humongous plot holes or are insanely short..
Edited your post so people don't think "OMG WALL O TEXT".

And for all your ranting about how the past generations were better, you provide no examples to back this up. It sounds like you're basing your entire argument on opinion, and you need to remember that your opinion is not fact. It sounds like you pine for the days when platforming games dominated the market, and your dislike for the common FPS has led to you dismissing the current market as shit. Well I just need to remind you that opinion vary, and many people enjoy FPS games.

Also your last claim seems odd, since there are many games in these genres currently on the market. For example, the RPG Dragon Age was recently released by Bioware, a company praised by gamers for their great single player campaigns and interesting story lines.

Also you pirating video games proves nothing other than that you are greedy. If you truly believed these games suck, you would not touch them. Instead, you pirate them under the flimsy justification that today's games are "shit".

Sure this gaming generation has its problems, but games today are generally better than they have ever been. The graphics, the content, the length, the control, the features have improved since the previous generation. There are some great games out there. Where did this resentment for the current state of the industry come from all of a sudden?

I am really dissatisfied with the way not just one, but two of my current gen systems aren't being used in favor of the older gen. Partly, this is because of a lack of money, but it's also because I have zero faith in the games that the DS and Wii have put out. I don't think there's anyone that will contest that. Yes, there are some good games, but I can only play through Valkyrie Profile or Phoenix Wright so many times. After a while I just want to bore my eyes out, and I really want a reason to bring my DS with me on an airplane or a bus...

Granted, the Sexbox 180 and the Personal Console are doing pretty good. But I really like the DS. ._.

when the hell did I say new game a shit. All I did was give an example of this phenomenon and asked why is this you idoit.
I'm going to assume that you were trying to quote me. And you've expressed several times throughout this thread that you think the current state of the game's industry is deplorable. Hence why I assumed you thought all new games were shit.

I never said i didn't like FPS.. And i never said that the games of this generation were total shit i just said that they lack creativity.. I actually love FPS but i also want a good beat em up shoot em up adventure/whatever type of game sometimes to.. And yes i have heard good things about Dragon Age i havent played it yet tho so i dont have a opinion.. And I for one dont love plat formers that much my hate for mario proves that.. All i was saying was this generation lacks i dunno life i guess.. They are just building on there previous successes and not really using creativity.. AND FOR MY POOR GRAMMAR WELCOME TO THE INTERNET!! This generation is still good i just dont think its as good as the last one.. However if they put some effort into there games would be a completely different story.. Name one Action/Adventure game that doesnt suck.. Rachet & Clank is ok i guess... And i have played both Uncharteds.. And i disliked them.. Second one was better but the first was just bad.. RPGS are insanely hard to find.. The best current one that i have played in a long time thats not even current any more is Golden Sun. The rest just feel like wanna bee FF7s...

EDIT: oh and forgot to mention just because i mention FF7 doesnt mean i like i actually hate its guts it was buggy and just lame period.. FF6 and 9 are 10-20X better than FF7 could ever hope to be..

Take another look at things.
Be positive.
What do we have now, that we didn't have 5 years ago?

There are both pros and cons to the newest generation of gaming.

I couldn't help but notice that both the games you mentioned are 1-on-1 fighters. That genre may have died with the Western Arcade, so there may be some fall-off as far as that's concerned. Otherwise, I think this generation's been pretty sweet. We're being treated to amazing visuals, a few games are approaching what I would call "art", a large number of games are challenging but accesible, and we're even seeing somehwat of an indie revolution with live arcade and the playstation network.

He's not the only one.

Methinks there is a person posting under multiple accounts in this thread.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that today's gamers are satisfied with the same old stuff. They'll happily line up for Generic Space Shooter #78 and Derivative Action Game with Parkour/Free Running Elements ver. 44, but when a truly unique game like Okami or Madworld comes along, they're content to ignore it and let great ideas fall by the wayside. Of course, an equal amount of blame rests with big-name developers who encourage this behavior with ridiculously huge ad-campaigns and the like.

Personally, I think the industry's heading for another crash. Things are shaping up much like they were back then.

It's all about personal preference; no game is actually "better" than any other game.

I can't say that I'm disappointed in this generation's selection.

Yes. Games today have dropped in quality and I think it's because they just don't care anymore or they are just lazy. Also they know as long as it has good grapics with a decent trailer it is going to sell well anyway.

The generation before the Wii, Xbox360 and PS3 at least tried to improve on everything and even extend it if possible, before that they did it even more and it was even better before that. Now Nintendo is making everything easier with a whole lot of stupid new gadgets and everyone is just going to do the same thing over and over again.

I really hated old games - with the exception of the Secret of Monkey Island and Sam and Max games - because they were bad. I don't understand why people need to cling on to past consoles and reminisce about when 'gaming was better' because its like an older person reminiscing about the war (really bad similie I know xD)... I'm not bought over buy this older games are better than new because newer games have better graphics, gameplay, and a better selection so in my books are supperior. Games are "a lot like 'Star Trek: The Next Generation'. In many ways it's superior but will never be as recognized as the original" games :)

I like how OP still goes on avoiding the one question that was really asked of him...

Some games were shit, some were not. Some games are shit, some are not. Some games will be shit, some will be great. That is how it has been and how it will be, and no amount of crying from your side will change it OP.
