Poll: This may sound stupid, but are Elves an allegory for Native Americans?

It depends on the series. Tolkiens' elves however are much more reflective of the early Anglo-European tribes.

With regards to Tolkien's work I'd say not so much. If you read The Silmarillion you see how the world was created and the elves' place in it and it doesn't really match the history of the Native Americans (which admittedly I know pretty much nothing about).

Later stories involving elves though I can see some similarity in.
