Poll: Thoughts on Death Metal.....

I love Death Metal for its instrumental Side, there aren't too many Death Metal vocalists i really like.
Though some bands like Cannibal Corpse and Opeth (i suppose the 2nd bands genre is open to opinion) have great vocalists. Gotta' love some Hammer Smashed Face in the morning

Or use it as an alarm tone like I did for a while. Honestly, it works beautifully. Then after a while it stops working and I sleep through it so I just change it to another song like Make Them Suffer, Decency Defied or The Chosen Legacy by Dimmu Borgir. I remember using Slaves Shall Serve by Behemoth for a while too.

Ive been using Walk by pantera for ages now, before that it was Conquer all (behemoth) ironically enough. I should probably change it, something like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6-3kN_tRlA should wake me up nicely on a morning, and scare children on the bus when people call me double win.

Ah Behemoth, I'm so excited for tonight, I can't wait (seeing them live tonight, I said it in my first post of this thread).

And a sample of the top 40 charts would show that 'any idiot' who knows a few chords can write a punk or rock song. Anybody who knows the Blues progression can write a song. ANybody with one of those waveform manipulators can generate a dance song.

Anybody with money and equipment can make a movie. Anyone with time, effort and a sellable idea can write a successful book.

Any 'idiot with half a brain' can see that your points in this thread show not so much a desire to converse and learn further on this topic, but to bludgen us with your rigid definitions and conclusions.

I am not deafly shouting out opinions about songs I have never heard before. I have heard most of these popular metal songs from time to time.

The music in almost all genres has gone to shit. This is no exception. I never see the appeal to this music. Most of it sounds the same to me.

I really miss the 90s.

Fair enough, though the hyperbole is very hard to cut through. Your initial comments were so extreme and dismissing, that it is no wonder poeple reacted the way they did. I don't agree with you in the slightest, but I will agree that every genre have members who don't do the genre much justice.

About Into Eternity - yes, that was pure metal sarcasm. In regard to Hypocrisy, no. They make warm and fuzzy inside. I will check out that .. er .. 'blip'. Is this a new Net word I have to learn?

Nice, saw them last year touring with Devildriver, Awesome atmosphere, and Nergal is god.
Sure you'll have an awesome time, just don't expect to be able to walk out of your own accord.

I hate it. most of the time the music is good but the vocals are just terrible.
I listen to post-hardcore and metalcore/screamo more than death metal.

I'm Kind of with you on this one, i love hardcore/scremo/metalcore, but im not so much a fan of straight deathmetal, but i do respect it. I could never hate death metal, or just metal, cause without half the bands that come under the death metal/metal banner the hardcore/screamo/metalcore stuff wouldnt be what it is today, as for post-hardcore, thats more influenced by punk...

DUDE your my new best friend. I LOVE into eternity. Id love to find more bands like them. I saw them live at my first concert and it was instant love. I have all their albums and id have to say into eternity is the best death metal band ever and their truly melodic too

I love death metal, bands like Vital Remains, Deicide, The Project Hate, ect. Lately I've been more into power metal, but I love most metal music. I was in a death metal band for a few years, and was really proud of the fact that we played with bands from different genres of metal (example, we opened for Sonata Artica).

Mudvayne? METAL? HAHAHAHA. You sir are a dolt. Ryan is an amazing bassist, and is squandering his talent with a band like them. He should go do something in the style of Qua Vadis that could showcase his talent instead of being worried about radio play.

I don't usually mind Death Metal, but I find that I prefer metal of the orchestral or folk sort. The latter is more of a parody, but damn it if it isn't catchy as hell. (Also, Alestorm is hilarious.)
