Poll: /thread

Does this get anyone elses goat when they see this? Like, really, you think this comment was the last bastion of discussion that could be had in the thread? Isn't it a little arrogant to put that? I've been seeing it crop up more, and more, and more, but it never really ends a thread. Do you do it to threads, and why do you do it, rather than typing up your opinion in your own words?

I know it isn't a big deal, just wanted everyone elses opinion.

It only bugs me when it's all that is posted.
If it's followed up by an actual contribution, I don't mind as much, even though it completely negates the /thread.

Not really. Because it never really seems to end thread.
It does give me an ego boost when I get quoted with '/thread' though but as I said, it never seems to end thread.

The rule I always stick by is that "You can't /thread your own post."

You need someone else to quote you and /thread for you.

Seeing /thread doesn't bug me as long as it's not the person that created the post /thread-ing themselves. Like DC.Justinian just did.

If another person quotes a post, deems it utterly awesome and then writes /thread to signify they think the quoted post was thread-ending in its greatness, that is fine with me.

I hate seeing it. It's normally whenever someone says something "cool" rather than something relating to discussion.

Just saying /thread is exactly the same as a "this" of "QFT" post, it lacks detail to actually be worth posting.

I also dislike it when users use it in their own posts, as if they weren't egotistical enough about themselves.

It basically means "the thread ends here because this post was so awesome there is nothing more to say".
They do it to their own posts because they think they were very clever (or they do it in jest, of course).
They do it to others' posts to show their support for the opinion expressed therein.

It's occassionally funny, or the topic has been answered, or someone gave the obvious answer and is just putting [/thread] as a sarcastic remakr so to speak.

You can't really have an /thread in a serious thread because people will actually be having a discussion. If it's a more silly one and someone puts up a very amusing post, then someone else is free to /thread it (although that in no way actually ends the thread). I have no problem with it within limits but it does get a bit annoying when people use it as little more than 'This'.

No, I think it's a good way to express your liking someone else's post. As for doing it to yourself, I think it's OK if done in a humorous way (which is most of the time).
