I don't know if it's MORE possible, but if FTL is possible, that means that time travel is possible.

Problem is, people fail to differentiate between "FTL" and "Taking a short cut while not actually moving faster than light thus arriving to the destination sooner than light did, because it took the long way around".

The other important thing to consider is that particles can and do move faster than light in a medium sometimes, (look up Cherenkov radiation), the speed that's the absolute limit is the speed of light in empty space (vacuum).

Also, tachyons are purely hypothetical at this point (and are likely to stay that way).

That last clause made it a whole new game for me. I mean if I had to choose one and ditch the other, sure the future would be cool to go to, but if the future had no FTL travel, eh...

FTL. No doubt. You have no idea how much I wish a galactic civilization would come about. The past is gone. We must look to the future.

Tempted to choose time travel because being able to go into the past is impossibly hard. But going with FTL for humanity's sake, because I'd rather time travel not be invented than FTL. We need to be able to expand beyond this galaxy and we're not going to do that by screwing with the past or the future if FTL is never invented.

FTL, simply because time travel is actually theoretically possible and thus not quite as awesome.
...

E'splain, please, how time travel is more/less theoretically possible than FTL.
I was going to say something about placing one opening of a worm hole close to a black hole, as time will pass slower near one of the openings and thus you'll be able to travel back and forth in time.
Then I remembered the whole "worm hole"-point.
I should probably not talk about physics when I just got home from a party where someone made drinks out of laboratory ethanol.

Time travel.
I only want to do it once, and not even return to the future.
Fuck the modern world, (I might bring some penicillin with me though, 1880s medicine aint great)

I WILL BE THE MOST OLD SCHOOL BOSS, by actually living there :D

I notice the title says "FTL", while the OP says almost instantaneuous travel to anywhere in the galaxy. While the latter is FTL, it's specifically very, very FTL.

Wrmhole generator (warp drive) that works as FTL drive pretty much. Going to other planets almsot instantaneously is much better than time travel.
