I'm sorta confused as to how small flaws in good games make them the most overrated ever played. I sincerely doubt any of these were ruined for you by these points.

Oh, and everyone else has said, if your forum post is longer than two articles from the site, don't post it.

A whole bunch of small flaws can form a big problem, I think you'll agree. Obviously, the entire list is my own opinion, as made clear several times, but you're right that this fact alone doesn't make it immune to criticism. Even so, I felt that the problems mentioned added up to significantly lessen my gaming experience in all ten cases. If the issues were marginal, I wouldn't have put the games in the list.

Finally, as the top of the original post mentions, the list was written for my blog and shared here out of a sense of "the more the merrier". It's obviously far too long for any casual forum scanner, but I don't agree that you just shouldn't be able to post something long; some people evidently did read the whole thing and got something out of it, which I'd say makes it a viable contribution.

Thanks for your time.

As a simple writer's critique, cut down on the 'verbose'. It makes your posts harder to read, and you're dancing around what you want to say. The fact that you're even clarifying that I'm allowed to criticize your work means you're rambling.

Everything else I could tell you has been said before a thousand times over.

Fair enough. And it's certainly true that we've all been repeating ourselves in this thread. Kind of wish I could move on with my life and onto better pieces of writing. Thanks for meaning well, all the same.

Valid points as ever, but I still think you're looking a bit too deeply into it. For one thing, I didn't find the piece terribly easy; as stated before, I'm much more used to writing positively, so such an epic rant was actually difficult in places. Despite my misgivings, some folk have said they got something out of it, so I'd say it's been a relative success, though I'd much rather one of my other things had received so much interest.

I've elaborated on my opinions a bit after people have asked me specific things, but I can't just sit down, get typing and expect a wave of insight to flow onto the screen. An opinion piece is exactly that, and though it doesn't make it or the author immune to criticism, I don't think it should be treated in quite the same way as a a proper review, in which I attempt to be as unbiased as humanly possible. I went into this one knowing some unjustified rage would seep through, and there's certainly plenty of that. A review this is not.

I'm also finding it a struggle not to repeat myself now, which is probably a sign I've about outlasted my usefulness.
Well review or not, if your are going to take up so much space you should aim for insight. No one wants to read that much about the opinion of one person they don't even know.

And if you haven't got insight, what have you got to say? CONTRIBUTE to forums! What wealth of intellectual furtherment can you share? If you don't have insight then don't post. You're opinion does not have to take up 10'000+ words.

I don't know what opinion pieces you have read, but looking at examples from newspapers they back up every opinion with perspective, an insightful argument to justify their opinion.

Very true. I do remind you that I'm not particularly pleased with the product of my labour, but I was just really trying to say that some people claim to have found some worth in it. Fragmented, rambling and over-opinionated though it may be, at least a few have found enough about it interesting to warrant commenting to just tell me that. Whatever its flaws, of which there are many, it's managed to make some folk happy. Give me that and I'll be more than satisfied.
