Well, I know that there are a lot of Doctor Who fans around escapist. But what about Torchwood?

Lately I'm re-watching the series and I can only feel that it's quite under-appriecieated overall. They have made what they promised from the start, an adult themed sci-fi series.

Torchwood is a lot more darker, grittier and quite often leaves you thinking if what the Cardiff team does is morally right, it's not even the alien killing. But I.E if anyone remembers the episode about Fairies. Or even the finale of the last season. You know how there are choices that the Doctor has to make and sometimes people might die but often they don't since everything works out for the best? Well Torchwood has to choose between wrong and terribly wrong, and noone can bail them out.

I have to applaud BBC team for making the Doctor Who universe so diverse.
You have Sarah Jane Adventures for the youngest crowd.
Than follows Doctor Who for all the audiences
And than there was Torchwood the more adult themed series... I loved the Torchwood and I'm hoping that the 2011 reboot will not be a hoax.

Anyone with me?

I just couldn't get past how Captain Jack centered everything was. That formula works on Dr. Who because the Doctor is obviously the most important character, while his companion is usually there only to give him a little humanity.

Torch Wood should have been more of an ensemble piece, but every episode ended the same way, With Captain Jack saving the day. None of the other characters really got a chance to show their skills. At one point, I joked that none of them seemed like trained agents, and I bet C.J. just picked them up off the street to make himself look cooler. *Spoilers* and low and behold that ended up being the actual back story.

And then there was Gwen. Don't even get me started on Gwen.

I love anything Doctor Who realated and Torchwood no exception!

I love the fact that the writers threw the Doctor who writing manual out the window and went crazy with it.

It's good that they made something like Torchwood to get an even bigger fan base.

I also LOVE the Sarah Jane Adventures, it can be kinda childish at times but I sitll love it!

I love Torchwood! I hate Gwen, though. So much. More often than not, she only succeeded in messing up things even more. For being a former cop, she was ridiculously unprofessional. She's the only character on the show that I hated, though. I loved everyone else. So, of course...
she was the only one, other than Jack, to survive. Ianto was my favorite character!
I admit, I cried when
Ianto
died. That death scene... gah.

James Marsters being on the show made me happy. I'm a huge Buffy fan, and John was basically Spike, but somehow had even less morals than the (earlier) soulless vampire. Also, the fact that the actress that plays Gwen voiced Merrill in Dragon Age 2 means that I instinctively disliked her.

I utterly detested almost everything about it, it must be said. But then I'm not a huge fan of the re-started Doctor Who, either.

I remember seeing a gay James Marsters, and thinking wow, this shit is awesome.

Never saw another episode though.

Why do people insist on mixing up then and than?!?! It's not hard, "well then", "better than".

OT: I enjoyed Torchwood while it was on Tv and have just purchased it on DVD. I particularly like Captain Jacks waistcoat and pocket watch under his large RAF trench coat.

I love it! I'm not happy about what happened to Owen and Tosh. I cried when that spoilery stuff happened.

Ha, he was pretty anything-and-everything-sexual, like Jack.

"Oh, that's gorgeous!" "That's a poodle." "S'nice!"

Sorry I'm not a native speaker, I only know my self-taught English from playing a lot of English games as a kid and reading quite some books.

First series had potential, but was way overblown. And over-the-top, especially for something meant to be gritty and real. The "Cyberwoman" episode springs to mind, though I have to admit the pterodactyl was a nice touch.

Second series got the blatant sexuality under control and presented what I'd say are some of the best stories in the Doctor Who universe ever. Seriously, I loved series 2.

Then Children of Earth just nailed it, nailed it, nailed it. So yes, I am a fan of Torchwood, I think it has earned its well-deserved place as Doctor Who's big, grown-up brother, and I'm confident it will only get better with time.

I'm not too fond of some characters, but the few episodes about Owen (the spoiler-filled ones, I mean) really made me love the show. Tosh was my favorite, so
I was pretty upset when they went and killer her off. Poor Tosh never had a chance to be happy after all the crap she had to endure with her mom.

Thing is, even the Doctor mentioned that Jack was a fixed point in time and space, so whether we like it or not, he's still going to be the center of the show for a long time...

All I have seen of it is Children of the Earth special, but that was really quite good. I should look further into it.

I hated all the characters except for Ianto and Jack (Who was the main reason I started watching in the first place), and the first season was kinda... bleh for me, but I definitely enjoyed season 2 and Children of the Earth.

I can't wait for the next season to start
