Definitely hockey, you have to be good at virtually everything to play that sport. You have to skate very well be able to control the puck as you skate at breakneck speeds, be able to watch for other players to avoid getting checked or get the puck taken from you and pass and shoot accurately. All of this on skates on ice. And you have to be able to do be able to play virtually every position. unlike in football where you only have do to your one position and not really worry about anything else

I'd have to say martial arts ranks up there in difficulty. Very difficult to master, requires physical and mental preparedness; but so do many others... I don't know. I think it's too relative a question. My innate inclination would be to assume that the sport which has the longest list of requirements to master... So, if it requires... Strength, Speed, Intellect, Intuition, Prediction... Hard question.

Could be either. I've played deck/field hockey too. And that takes up space, so I just kinda lumped it all together, though no offense was meant.
Oh, I wasn't offended I just thought that it might affect how some people vote. Because although any sport is hard if you play at an elite level, pretty sure that as a non-contact sport, Field Hockey isn't even remotely similar to Ice Hockey anymore.
Well I play rather competitive deck hockey, but thats just me. you'd probably have to ask someone who plays for more then just recreation.

Yay hockey! the fastest sport on earth. Go Bruins!
You have to be pissed, but I wanna leave this here for everyone who says that that "armour" the NHL
players wear makes them less manly and the game less tough:

this was disappointing news, i mean he was JUST cleared to come back from his last concision too. But, it's the right call to make to not let him play, i just hope this time won't keep him away from the game for good. But, if he can't he can't and i wish him the best of luck.
Figured you'd have something to say. He's coming down with Jordan Staal syndrome, where he just cant stay healthy. But seriously though its really a shame, especially since he could be away from the game for ever or for a while. Last time this happened like this it was Matt Cooke, and he was out till the playoffs. He's definitely having his playing career shortened, what with his recurring concussions.

If you mean tough as in "requires the most toughness" rather than "the most violent" than I think it has to be distance running. Sure you take a lot of hits in hockey and football and rugby, but distance running is the only sport where you are expected to literally collapse from exhaustion at the end. It's not likely to seriously injure you, but I don't think there's anything more physically demanding.

Well, i cant advocate weather or not it being the toughest seeing as I've never tried many other sports, but i have to say judo is incredibly tough.

Just in finding the right timing to use a technique can take years to hone properly, added to the thousands or tens of thousands of repetitions you'll need to perform a move properly, plus the endurance to go 100% for 5 whole minutes plus extreme explosive power required constantly throughout the match, added in with the required versatility and flow of not only your standing combat, but even your ground fighting, while being capable of interchanging between the two at a moment's notice on top of that, the sport literally practices strangling people by cutting off blood supply to the brain and trying to get into an arm lock.

People have literally died and come home with broken limbs from competitions, or even training. I dont know about other sports... but this seems pretty rough to me...

At suburban club level?
Seeing how cricket is clearly dominating the poll, I'll leave you with your beliefs. It wasn't going anywhere anyway.
I never stated that I believe cricket is the toughest sport, because I don't (although it is incredibly difficult to play well).
