Shot down? No, can't say I've felt that. I am rather sensitive to what other people think (yes, even here on the internet...though it's much worse in real life), but I've never felt I've had opinions shot down. Insulted, perhaps, but it's hard to have an opinion shot down when you can explain why you have that opinion, and it's based on something other than knee-jerk hyperbole.
