Not as simply answered as you might assume. I strictly play hardcore games (unless people are over), but I don't "game" enough anymore to qualify otherwise. I've got too many other things to focus on (drumming, writing, career, et al.). Plus I piss my pants at the sight of a new retro thing like Megaman 10 or Donkey Kong Country Returns.
as would I, im just curious to what people might think they fall under according to wiki.

I don't know what I fit into. The categories are too limited and simplistic. If I fit into any, I fit into more than one. And you cannot vote for more than one.

None of them. I like playing game, I play a lot of different games but games are not the main focus of my life.

I seem to be a bastard child of casual and hardcore by those definitions. Casual in that I don't play very often at all, once in a while, hardcore in that I play rather more involved titles in big sessions.

I'm a flight-simmer that takes great pride in my perfect landings, practice and patience are key. I have a seperate box to control my autopilot, heading, trim and flaps. It has a big red digital display......hardcore is my only option!

You realise that most of these aren't mutually exclusive, right? Like a pro hardocre import retrogamer is somebody who plays impossible mario romhacks from overseas.

To add more content. I play old games. I know a total of one good game made locally, so I guess I might qualify as an import gamer for the sheer impossibility of doing otherwise. And that says pretty much nothing about my gaming habits.

There should be a "no category" option.

I would say that I am more than a casual gamer, because I like to play games a lot and love different varieties as well. But I also never compete in tournaments, play for money, spend my time on imported games or play old games as well.

Where is the "other" option?
Because I mix it all up, I'll go completely casual on some games and hardcore on others and sometimes the retro fever gets me and I'll replay a whole batch of oldies.

I put myself down as a 'Hardcore Gamer', if tentatively, because it has connotations dangerous to my fledgling social life.

How about moderate/retro?

I used to fall under the hardcore category, but I slowly drifted away from doing nothing but playing videogames.

I'd agree it's not necessary to pre-weight the categories with demographics, even if they may be accurate. You're just baiting people to take offence and complain about it.

I also think there's a category missing- eclectic gamers. I definitely put in the time that hardcore gamers might, but I certainly don't put that all into one genre or even one system. I think it's important to decouple the idea of a casual gamer from casual games... I'm sure you can get a hardcore gamer who is only into casual games.

Definitely not a casual gamer, haven't been since...well ever, I guess
I'm assuming a pro gamer means you play games as a profession, and that's not me
Not a newbie, haven't been for years now. Though I somehow still have the skills of one
It'd be interesting to be an import gamer, but I don't have the money or the resources to play imported games
Honestly, I can't stand retrogamers. Not because they play retro games, nothing wrong with that, but because of most of their elitist "8bit > 3D" attitude. Not saying they're all like that, but most of the ones I've met are

I'm closest to hardcore although i don't qualify by virtue of being shite at games, generally the only way i get anywhere is through sheer bloodymindedness
