Eh,I'll pass.

I have a very good immune system, and swine flu isn't that different to regular flu.

I only get seriously sick once a year.

Ofcourse i'm going to get it, vaccines are created for a reason. Oh and all new drugs including vaccines have to go through WHO, which involves lab tests, then animal tests and then human tests. So its fairly safe unless you're unfortunate to have an allergive reaction to one of the componments. Also i have asthma, can you imagine what the flu would do when a cold brings a full blown asthma attack

Personally I think it isn't worth the trouble. Who wants to get up on a Saturday morning to go get a needle shoved into their arm, as opposed to washing their hands?

The swine flu is still just the flu, simply a different strain. I haven't gotten the flu in like 10 years, and I don't know anyone who has gotten swine flu. I'll pass. Besides, if they can create a vaccine for swine flu so quickly, why can't they make one for the regular flu? Or is this "vaccine" another one of those shots that you're supposed to get every year just like regular flu shots?

Meh. I've already had two pretty bad colds last month and managed to shrug them off, and if people are saying swine flu is just like a cold I've probably already had it.

If I have to pay, or if there is a shortage, I won't bother. My immune system is fairly healthy.

Yeah, it would have to be, because influenza changes every year.

That's what I thought. Meaning it isn't really a vaccine in the sense that everyone thinks of as a vaccine. Regardless, flu shots are a scam so I don't expect swine-flu shots to be any different.

Seriously, why WOULDN'T you get vaccinated!? It's just stupid. You can get the virus, and give it to others, helping it spread very effectively. You know vaccines are why smallpox is gone right....right? Seriously, they are a good thing, you should be fucking forced to get them.

But its not a vaccine. Even if everyone in the world got this shot the flu would still exist, because there is no vaccine for the flu. This is no different than those standard flu shots they offer to people every year, and every year people who get the shot still get the flu.

Nope. If it was something worth getting vaccinated for, I might consider it. As it is, it's no more dangerous than seasonal flu, which is hardly likely to be serious for a healthy 26-year-old with no pre-existing conditions.

What the nelly is swine flu? I thought it was some fictional disease that was - ahem - "popularized" by mass-media.

Okay,in seriousness, why should i get the vaccine? There were very few confirmed cases in Russia, and i'm not even there! Hooray for living in a city with a little international traffic going through it!

I might have considered it if i lived in USA/Great Britain, but there's no point in getting vaccinated here.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. I vaccine doesn't STOP you getting the disease, it just amplifies your immune response if you get exposed. In most cases you'll completely annihilate the pathogen and won't develop the disease.

Yes, every year people do get the flu despite the vaccine. Maybe the virus mutates. (Hah! Maybe. Statistically, every single flu particle produced will have 1 mutation. So yes, the virus mutates) or maybe their immune system sucks. Doesn't mean the vaccine is worthless. Imagine how many more people would get the flu without the vaccine.

Swine flu has been way over-sensationalized. The truth of the matter is that the regular flu can be much more damaging for the majority of us. So no, I won't waste my money on the vaccine.
Despite the fact that if swine flu mutates to become more deadly we're going to be in a world of pain? the problem with the media coverage is that swine-flu is NOT a problem now. It might be. Later. We need to make sure it ISN'T. Because if it IS. It will be BAD. How we do we make sure it isn't a problem later? By vaccinating.

I'm not frail and don't have underlying health conditions. Theres no reason not to let my own immune system sort myself out. Its all media scaremongering out of control anyway!
