Does valve take too long to release games? I don;t think they doo, because they do so much playtesting, and their games have more polish then any others.

I don't care, as long as they are doing and do eventually release the game, then it's okay.
I'd just play a different game while I wait.

They have a crap ton of games. BUT they do need to be more prudent on patch/update releases. Hell the scout update for TF2 came out recently but its been almost a half a year since the one before that. As well as L4D having one "soon" supposedly March but there were supposed to be user dev tools for online MP maps less than a month after release.

They ALWAYS take too long to release games... And whatever happened to the new addition to CS that was supposed to be included with the orange box? Idk who is supposed to be blamed, but someone should be despite the fact that I still love valve...

Ok I think they do take to long however I love the quality of all their games I can see where all that time is spent and I feel when I buy a valve game Im buying a complete game

However When I think about Half-life 2 episode 3 and how it was supposed to be out last year and havent heard a word about it, that annoys me, Im hoping they will at least start working on half-life 3 soon

Im split between the two. L4d, for example, took years to develop, but there is actaully very little content in it, but what there is is awesome. Its in dire need of new maps and a modes though. Valve isnt a big company so all these other project are taking up time when they could be on hlaf life. Their games are constant;y updated.
One thing that really pisses me off though is that there has been absolutly fuck all info about epsidoe 3, other than the statement that they havent finialised plot details, that was a year ago. I was talking about when we could expect to see it with friends, and i heard 2010 thrown around. 3 years to make another 5 hour long game, no matter how polished it is is not acceptable.

There is no such thing as "To long" when you are making Half Life. If they ever rushed one, and compromised the game's integrity because of it, I'd personally slap Gabe Newell

No they do not take too long, they take their time and get it right. This is why their games are some of the best you can buy.

I'd rather that Valve take their time to perfect the game, than to rush it and release something shitty.
Just my two cents.

They can take as long as they like. The extra time they spend on their games is what makes so high quality. The longer they take the better the game is, so i am more than willing to wait.

It's Valve, they operate on a different plane of existence to everyone else.

That they've never released a bad game means they can take as long as they want with their releases.

#Edit. Something just occured to me.

Valve are both a developer and a publisher. In the last two years they've published 4 complete games (EP2, Portal, TF2, L4D), plus updates for TF2, Portal, Left 4 Dead and continuing tech support for all the games.
Do any other developers have quite that high a work rate?

The polar opposite to Valve is E.A. and anything that is the polar opposite to E.A. is amazing, so im more than willing to wait for an amazing and incredibly polished game rather than be on half life 4 now and it be 1 gun and 2 combine skins.
