Hell the scout update for TF2 came out recently but its been almost a half a year since the one before that. As well as L4D having one "soon" supposedly March but there were supposed to be user dev tools for online MP maps less than a month after release.
You have been spoiled by Valve. Do you know how many other companies won't release updates as frequently as Valve, or after over a year a game has been out

It's nothing but the regular discussion over time/quality.

In the light of Valve, they take quite a while for their games, but just about all of their games are commendable. Let them take their time, or we might have to play HL2 Episode 1 again, if you know what I mean.

Is it just me or is this poll biased?
Both options if you look deeply between the lines they both say "yes".

Valve take their time to make games, but would you rather they lingered to make masterpieces, or rushed out a stream of crap?

Nicely observed. But if you look deeply at the thread. This has been stated twice before. Join the club, we got jackets..

Has anyone really complained about the quality of a Valve release?

Apart from those looking for the fight, of course.

Valve products are pretty f'ing solid, so i don't mind waiting a little bit longer for them.
The poll isn't about the quality (there's no denying the level of polish), rather the quantity. Whatever the case, I'd like to agree with Yahtzee with his "Valve doesn't get idea with episodic gaming" comment.

because they do so much playtesting, and their games have more polish then any others.
LOL at this statement. The most recent update on TF2 made servers crash when they use a new weapon, how does THAT get past play testing?

Oh, i forgot they're doing HL2EP3. I swear to god i forgot. Yep they're taking way too damn long, but once they finally release their next work of art everybody will forgive them. For about 3 hours while they're playing the new episode. Personally, i'll be happy even afterwards. Especially if they release Portal 2 *hint* *hint*

I just want to see the story wrapped up now in episode 3 because i can't wait another 4 years to find out what happens...

Im split between the two. L4d, for example, took years to develop, but there is actaully very little content in it, but what there is is awesome. Its in dire need of new maps and a modes though. Valve isnt a big company so all these other project are taking up time when they could be on hlaf life. Their games are constant;y updated.
One thing that really pisses me off though is that there has been absolutly fuck all info about epsidoe 3, other than the statement that they havent finialised plot details, that was a year ago. I was talking about when we could expect to see it with friends, and i heard 2010 thrown around. 3 years to make another 5 hour long game, no matter how polished it is is not acceptable.
The only thing i know about ep3 is that we get to know the middle name of labby ( the vortigon lab-asistant)

Valve are like Rare, Sqaure-Enix or Blizzard. They take forever to release any games but you know that when they do they will be fantastic. In the meantime, there's plenty of other less fun video games to amuse ourselves with.

I don't mind ep3 is taking so long to develop, because I know that Valve will do a fantastic job with it.

I think that Valve is doing a Orange Box part 2. Maybe bringing EP3, Portal 2, an update to CS:S(I doubt cause the hardcore CS fanboys hate to see their masterpiece be changed even if it is just a graphics overhaul) and maybe a map pack for Day of Defeat Scource(One to make that game actually decent).

I chose who cares, since your polls make no sense man, the comments should be on the other words.

-Yes, get off your arses
-No, It'll be ready when its ready.

But they may take a while to do things, but i'd rather wait for them to come out with something nearly flawless like they usually do. (Half-life, TF2, Portal and L4D as some examples.)
I'd prefer that to them coming out with something that bugs like crazy and that annoys plenty of people until they fix it via patch.

It's taking too long to LOWER THE FREAKIN' PRICES!!

Who cares how long the game is being made - as long as it's good. I'm not crying that Diablo 3 will come in Q3/4 2009/2010. I want it to be good.

Don't know. Anyway, I ignore their games until they're actually on the shelf. So I guess they can take as long as they like, so long as the quality of the game is in proportion with the length of development.

The only thing that I think valve is taking to long about is releasing the DLC for Xbox360 for the orange box. As for everything else, well it clearly takes some time and effort to fart out diamonds like Half-Life 2 and Portal and all the episodic content for HL2.
