I quite liked Vanille, she actually made the dreary slog through FF13 with the other unlikable, incredibly slappable characters more interesting.
As a character, I dislike her (although it is cool that she reacts to people checking out her thigh with mild, curious interest). I prefer her as a cosplay assuming you're only dressing as her and acting like a better character...like Quina or, Wedge
I liked Vanille, Lightning, Sazh, Fang. Hope could die in a fire, I seriously shouted SHUT THE F- UP at the tv screen every time he spoke (my roommate either hated me or found it humorous). Snow was slightly annoying but not really that bad.
Seriously, this is the first game that I outrightly HATED a character so bad I could not bear to play the game.

Love her, her voice actor was Nia from Gurren Lagann (Japanese version) so I was instantly attracted to her genki mannerisms.
The voice could be a tad annoying, but it was a good character. She was happy, yet a bit tragic. I liked that.
Are you guys all talking about her English voice here? Cause if not I'm slightly confused lol.
Don't get me wrong, I completely agree with you on her English VA sucking, but this thread is about the real Vanille, not just some dub of her...and the real Vanille was a joy to listen to.

I liked her, but I can understand her dislike appeal to others. Her voice is pretty tedious. Though my room-mate has an even higher pitched voice so I can live with it.
She's über-annoying in the beginning with her incessant giggling and bad dialogue (worse than the other characters for some reason), but her backstory is very interesting and once she loses the happy-go-lucky attitude, she's actually not bad.
Only 2 characters I liked in the whole game were Hope and Vanille.
Hope because I can kind of identify with him (I thought my dad was an A-hole, too.)
And Vanille because..... she seemed to be the only character (other than Sazh's chocobbo) that wasn't prepetually depressed. The other four can go feed themselves to Bahmut, because Lightning, Snow, and Sazh were just too depressing and hopeless, and Fang kind of creeped me out.

There are times where I don't mind her, but mostly she annoys the hell out of me. Not as Much as Hope though, he can die in a fire, God I hated him. She's a good healer and ravenger, so I'm not gonna be too hard on her.

Her stupid high voice just grates inside my mind when I hear it. I just can't stand characters like that regardless of ability. It's the same with Moira Brown in FO3.

I basically liked all the characters for the first half of the game, something to the tune of:
1- Sazh
2- Lightning, Vanille, Hope.
3- Fang
4-
5- Snow
After that though everyone melodrama fueled interactions either ceased or looped, leaving nothing engaging to push me through the games real problem, the combat system.

Face wise I thought they all looked pretty real, yes granted PRETTY being the key word here but I think this argument is more down to taste. I like pale girls and dispite her blandness I thought Lightning was quite cute. Not to say I didnt like me some Dark, Fang shaped chocolate... 0.0 YOU KNOW, IN A REPECTFUL WAY?!Nieroshai said:
