Back: Re-read what I missed and I agree this is the end of this election. I am appalled at how caught up we all got in this - but then again it was very enjoyable and I don't think we went too overboard on the slander it was present but not explicitly insulting so I don't really think it counted as a flame-war. But ya in the mean time I want to thank all those on my side for their hard work. 
The problem is there is no level stage if you want to win - the only way this could work is if we all agree to do it non seriously and for it just being the novelty of winning - i.e. silly manifestos and not doing it seriously. Otherwise you just get escalation. We barely avoided a flame war here.Timotei said:

Prior to that time I asked friends to vote for us/myparty and this got me 20 votes or so. At that point you were on 34. Demented Teddy as your right hand man realised I was gaining fast and so began his own canvassing of friends to get extra votes for you. Then the originally passive and fun speeches turned against other party's when Demented Teddy began to fight back with his own posts in response to my high activity in the thread, this then evolved as the followings behind the two sides grew with more committed members arguing over party policies. Our party rather unfairly took advantage of your absence and thus were able to argue that you had shown no proof of you commitment to your promises and we were able to put forward our plans and ideas for dealing with certain issues in the community (read the thread to see them). Demented teddy was left with little choice but to stall for your return and thus made posts that in some lights could be considered trolling (as he refused to address the issues or our demands for examples/explanations of your party's plans on how they would deal with the problems) - and instead made posts which paraphrased your post about your promises i.e. Uniting the community is our goal, whilst failing to explain how. Whilst I had sent virtual cookies to anyone who asked for them or voted for us as evidence of my commitment to following my promises and evidence of my seriousness. My supporters even made a video! My supporters and myself then called Teddy and your supporters out on this as we had explained our ideas and your party hadn't. Then your supports latched on to my giving away cookies for fun arguing my party wasn't taking the election seriously.. Then at around 0.32am I negotiated an alliance with the paladins party to join with mine giving us a higher poll score and putting us on your heels. Then I went to bed and at about 4:30am one of my members suggested we tune the whole propaganda and canvassing down aswell as the political arguing as we risked becoming a flame war (I have read the posts and honest believe we never reached that point thou it might have headed that way).
Yes please, I'd like to be informed of what the fucking hell happened, 2 years ago the Escapist Elections created a huge rift in the community to the point that bannings happened as a direct result of the fallout, its why the New Guards and the Old guards don't integrate very well. I'd like to do it again, it has been fun, unfortunatly I was the creator, editor and leader of a party which spread my abilities quite thinly, I knew I wouldn't win but that was my goal to create this little playground where in future I could oversee and commentate on what happened.Timotei said:
Its funny that there have been some "self moderating" happening, but hopefully in future we can stop that happening, after all the main goals of the parties are full integration of the community.
I made the rules as lenient as possible to allow people to have fun, we had some mergers of parties because of it, which would not have happened on a stricter schedule.
So going foward, yes I would like to do it again, people be nice to each other.
I was planning on doing a question time today with the major party members but it looks like I have to check this thread out to see what the hell happened.
Ill just show you this I explained it to Furburt. I think we can still carry on with the thread but no more PMing for votes and people put up their explained manifestos and the leaders can talk in user groups about what they want to say. I wouldn't really call it a flame war, we had an argument that wasn't getting anywhere really and thus it was in some ways us unfairly forcing them to give trolling responses - as furburt wasn't present to ok any explanations they might give, which we lapped up and responded to. Nothing truly insulting was really said. If we carry on all that would stop. People would only be allowed to discuss with their leader/representative what to say and then at the question time the leaders discuss the goals of their party without attacking other party goals.Eggsnham said:
