there is no such thing as good or bad war, war happens its been part of our society since humans existed. War stimulates medical and technological advancements, it also comes up with new and inventive ways to kill people. Wars are usually started because one side has what the other wants, hitler wanted lebensraum in WW2, in WW1 everybody wanted something, Bits wanted to cease German naval expansion, Germans wanted respect as a new world power, the slav people wanted freedom and there own state, Austria didnt want to give it too them, France wanted alcaser lorraine back. War is in our nature and will always be our nature, so it isn't good but it aint bad either.

Do you even know what war really looks like? No, not Call of Duty, Actual war.

War is only good if it is absolutely necessary, otherwise it should be avoided for amazingly obvious reasons.

I'll admit, though, that it helps the economy, so that's a plus in the whole dudes killing each other thing.

I think most people can't handle war. Its clearly a bad thing when other solutions can be found.

If there is no way through diplomacy and bygones won't be let be bygones, then it is necessary to destroy adversaries.

Most human beings don't know war though, they just "study" it to try and quell their fears.

In the end it comes down to how much you'd be willing to lose.

If you can say something like "Yeah, I love War!" chances are you've never lost a child and if you had and say the same things, then you lost more than just a child.

To murder someone's child in a self deluded "justifiable" war is murder all the same. If you love murder, you clearly aren't cut out to be considered "civilized".

I would LOVE to see someone who says "I Love War!" say it just the moment before they get murdered in a war, and die with a smile on their face and genuine happiness in their hearts. Because to embrace War, to love it, you MUST be prepared to suffer the ultimate consequence of it, Death.

Chances are when someone claims to love war, what they are saying is.

"I detest War, for it is not through destruction that I am here to banter on the internet all day making these preposterous claims, but through peace and cooperation. It is not that I don't appreciate the sacrifices of wars, but I would gladly take unto myself the responsibility of learning from those sacrifices, so that I may better serve in the interest of peace. Without these sacrifices I recognize that much of the culture I have grown up to love is based on the very real consequences of War, and the sacrifices of those who died in them, fighting for whatever cause they chose to embrace."

So if that's what you mean by "I love war." then I can understand where you are coming from.

But if you only mean "I love murder." then you are most likely a liar.

I've never experienced a war, and I will pray that I don't ever. For to live and die in a time of peace is a blessing rarely seen.

I dont think war can be described as good. Interesting? Definately. Neccessary? Sometimes.
The reults that we gcan get from war however can be amazing. All the different technological and medical advancements made thatnks to ww2 and the arms industries afterwards have made the world a better place.
War can definately bring about change for the better in social aspects too. Many black Americans first expereinced a taste of equality when fighting in the european nations in ww1 and 2

Both. It's a check against rising population, but... People die, or something sentimental.

This requires a lot more than a black or white, yes or no answer. Depends on the cause, result, etc. etc.
Edit: And why would you ever say you "love" war? That's awful.

War has its benefits, and I would prefer if those could be achieved without war. Until that day, war is necessary. I don't love it, but I'd rather have a war than have people do nothing to stop an evil.

You love war? Have you ever been a soldier or member of the army during a war?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no (as your listed occupation is student), in which case your answer is idiotic.

Of course war is not a good thing, but it's human nature to bicker and argue and debate, and if you're powerful enough, war can be the outcome (or in some cases, the debate itself) of these arguments.

War is a necessary evil; WW2 was not a good thing, but war was the lesser of two evils when faced with a fascist trying to take over the world bit by bit. It's never good, but a lot of the time it is (unfortunately) better than the worst option available.

How anyone could say they love war however, is beyond me.

Wars are never good but they are sometimes necessary i.e. WW2 (thats not to say I dont respect anyone who fought or fights to defend my country or to protect the lives others from those oppressive bastards who seem to have set themselves up everywhere at the moment)

Really ?
You love it ?
You love the suffering and deaths of millions of people ?
I'll bet you wouldn't love war if you actually experienced it.
That could be the most ignorant statement I have ever read.

Actually go to war, I'm sure your attitude will change just a bit.

As for the actual response to your question, war is one of those tough calls to make. Some wars are cases where war is the only remaining option, or when so much was at stake should no action be taken, but of course it's not the type of thing most people who fight them actually want to be doing.

I can see that you're speaking from the perspective of a history student. As a fellow history buff I agree that it IS fascinating, but while I enjoy studying it's history I'd be lieing if I said I "love" war.

How can you love war? I take it you've never actually been in a warzone? Also, I take it your about 12 years old.

I can understand loving like learning about WW2 or whatever, but actually thinking war is a good thing, I dunno what to think about that.

Sun Tsu said something along the lines of "Avoid war whenever possible". He also said something like "War is only a means to a political end".

It's been a while since I read The Book.
