War is one of the major flaws of humanity. Its completely unnessesary and pointless. In my opinion a country should only use its army for defense, humanitatian aid or to help UN peacekeeping forces.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO........What's your take on war?
stimulates the economy

Yeah killing tons of people including civilians to help the rich get richer sure is a good thing. Also how does it stimulate the economy?

Tax payers get to feel they're getting bang for their buck.

This says more of the stupidity of tax payers than it does of the so-called "good" of war.
"Violence and assault is awesome and should be legal cause it gives bodybuilders a chance to show how big and though they are, and martial artists the chance to show how awesome they are" would be a statement just as stupid.

Brings nations togeather in a sense of national pride and unity

Read born on the 4th of july, or watch how the media will often make the war look like an evil thing, and people will loose respect for veterans cause they think of them as stupid people who wanted to play togh and shoot guns, who ended up killing innoscents (different from war to war)

Bring down evil tyrants

Ok this one is the reason war sometimes has to happen, though it gotta be better executed than Iraq where a dictator was just replaced by gangs and chaos.

Actually, as this current war proves, it does NONE of those things.
What about the Iraq war? It removed Saddam from power. After all...He was committing Genocide on The Kurds ( i think that is how you spell it). You know a tribe found commonly in Northern Iraq. With the gasing and bombing of innocent people...yup no good reason for going to war.
You know the best part of the Iraq War?

Is that it was the US that putted Saddam in power in the first place and armed him.

And Bin Laden is also another Made in US product.

How goes the saying? Don't create something you cannot destroy.

War is natural. Many species fight for leadership of their packs and humans are no different. The only difference now is there is Nuclear Weapons which make Wars to hard to fight.

War would not be necessary in a perfect world were every one got along but there are times when people Hitler for example can't be reasoned with using pretty words and diplomacy. War is not a good thing but sometimes there is no other option.

It's in the nature of every animal, including humans, to be somewhat territorial. War is unavoidable, just like it's impossible to completely eliminate crime or violence. If we want to live as independent, free-thinking humans without some overmind feeding constant instructions into our brains, we have to accept the fact that there will always be war. It's human nature to fight. In most cases, wars are unnecessary and pointless, e.g. Iraq, even World War I.
But occasionally, when people have a just cause to fight for, war is the logical step to eliminate whatever threatens that cause. In World War II, Hitler and the Nazis were without any doubt committing atrocities that needed to be stopped. The Revolutionary War was justified to some extent too, because Imperial Britain was overreaching again and claiming control over something it really had no ownership of in the first place.
I could go on but don't want to start an argument. My point is this: World peace is just wishful thinking, but we might as well have a damn good reason for starting a war before doing so.

There is nothing, absolutely nothing good in war.
Whatever we gain we'd gain as well without all this bloodbath, just maybe not so fast.
However, what we loose can't be re-gained. Never. We loose humanity.

Sure, it provides technological advancement and consumes resources to stimulate an economy. It also kills thousands of people. "Population control" no doubt. Did I forget to mention the damage to the environment it can cause? The suffering to civilians? The sheer, bloody-minded waste?

National pride is as useful as a stick up the jacksie when it causes you to go to war. As human beings we need to get beyond this and find common ground so that we can all advance.
What she said.
We are smarter and wiser than war, but not everybody has realised it yet. Unlocking potential, and reaching out for others is the way to go.

We're already spending too much on it. One helecopter could probably pay for a new school (well, maybe not that much, but close enough). And if we didn't have a war, we wouldn't need to build more weapons. This is a horrible argument.

War isn't that awesome for the economy, really. At least not anymore.

However, I'll say that until the end of the Cold War, at the time when the nation-state began singing its swan song, war was the mother of everything.

Now... War itself is changing and losing its capability to stimulate and to innovate.
