Will it kill WoW? No, but from what I've seen it'll definitely be some competition.

Now I just need a massive, epic offline RPG set in Warhammer Fantasy-MAKE IT SO DAMMIT!
(That is to say I don't actually think it will crush WOW as that simply is just too big a task BUT being Warhammer and better yet, 40K it is immediately infinitely better then WOW in my Imperial eyes).

It's important to note, the developers of WH40k
M have already stated they aren't trying to build a 'WoW-killer'. They said they wanted to stick to what make WH40k awesome, and just concentrate on creating a fun and solid game that will stand on it's own. Chances are they'll opt for the micro-transaction route and for-go the subscription style.
Don't worry about WoW, just worry if this development team can get the feel of this game right. With all these fantasy MMOs dominating the market, it sure would be nice to have a GOOD futuristic one to shake things up.

I'd love to see it succeed - we certainly need more Sci-Fi MMOs that don't involve spread-sheeting and completely covering your screen with Menus. *Glares furiously at Eve*
Warhammer makes a great universe for PvP, but MMOs involve so much more than just PvP. That's where Warhammer (by Mythic) fell flat on it's face. The PvP was really pretty good, but the PvE content was about as much fun as having my thumbs nailed to the bar while a delicious beer placed in front of me.
So....I'd be willing to be 40k falls into this same trap. It'll have great PvP, and terribad PvE...making the game fun for around a month.

And nobody has noticed that at no point did I label Dark Millennium as a "WoW killer." I just wanted opinions, but this is the Internet.
