I believe it. I've never seen a situation where a sniper beats a horde unless the conditions are specific.

It was me, a Tau player and space Marine guy, I sent my gaunts in, and he picked off, one of my elites no biggie, but before he knew it he was surouned by gaunts, he held his own... for a bit, till I broke his morale and he fled, leadin me to 'run them through' although he severly weakend me, and I got torn to shreds by the Spacies Nid vets, i hate those guys.

I've always wondered what would happen if the Tyranids and Necrons (2nd fav) did battle. One things for sure, it would be epic.

Mostly long and drawn out.

Possibly, ecpically on table tops, but if you imagine, like a CG battle between the two(if made well), daaaaammmmm!

But it would have to end with the Tau coming down and killing everything.

It would be epic but....

Necrons own the Tau, because a lot of the heavy stuff for Tau is vehicals, and machines, and a lot of the Necron's wepons are anti-tank/machine suff.

Also I dont understand how the Tau aren't wiped out yet... I mean the Space Marines, could wipe then out easily since the Tau empire have like 2 stars acording to the 40K map, and the space mariens have like 50.

It's because we are the gods of ranged combat. If you can't hit us, you can't win.

Ok, we'll just send the Ultra Marines and Blood Ravens over and see how ya handle them

And how are the Necrons not gods of range? They're freakin robots!

I fell to the whipsers of the Dark Gods. Tzeentch in particular.
And I swear, Thousand Sons are damn powerful. Squad of 20. One has Magic powers. The rest can shoot a single bolt at Strength 4 AP 3 24". That's 19 shots capable of negating a good number of saves. God help you if you get within 12". Rapid Fire. Oh, they have Slow and Purposeful, too. And get to roll 2 dice for that. And a 3+ armor save with a 4+ Invuln. save.
As for their $$ cost: I know of this great little UK site called Maelstrom Games. Incredibly Cheap. 40-50 $USD for a boxed squad of 1k cons.

I have a massive 4.5k-ish army of SPEHSS MAHREENS for the tabletop, and I do absolutely love them to bits for how they stand out as being the heroes only in a setting as thoroughly fucked as Warhammer 40k, and anywhere else they'd be "overzealous, murderous anti-villains" at best.

I voted for the Eldar though, because for all their whining and self-pity, they're really damn interesting as a race. I've started a small army with them at around 1.5k points because playing them is just like trying to understand their lore and racial identity - very challenging, and very rewarding.
