So... warhammer.
Anyone that has ever been to a games-workshop con, has entered a games-worhshop shop or has googled the words War, Hammer or Lizardmen will probably know what im talking about.
The game of gluing miniatures together, painting them and having them battle other peoples miniatures, a quite simple concept right? But the game warhammer is long from simple. The main warhammer rulebook is 28 cm tall and has 271 pages of special rules. Each of the 13 races also has its own special rulebook, with even more rules. Along with that there is also warhammer 40k, a future based warhammer and Warhammer: Lord of the Rings, wich you can possibly guess what is. Not long ago warhammer had its 25th birthday, so its been here for quite a while. But... there is some people that looks on warhammer as a artform... they use a thing called greenstuf to make their own miniatures and they paint them so it looks like they are real!

How do you look at warhammer? Interest, Hobby or Artform.

I love it and all I want to do is play...sometimes I wish the models came pre-painted...Back when I had time to go to my local, you'd oft' find me yelling at heretics whilst quoting passages from my guardsmen's prima!

I think you should remove a lot of the existing poll options and add a few more "don't play" ones.

For example, "I don't play, but am interested in trying it."

I'm sure you're wanting us to say artform, but nah, Warhammer is a hobby. A fine hobby if you've got the money, but just a hobby.

And like someone above said, there's no "I don't play Warhammer" option, so I'm calling BIASED THREAD!!

REPORTED!!

Naaah just messing. But yeah anyway, hobby ;)

It depends on how you approach it.

If you just glue them together and paint them uniformly, it's more of a hobby.

If you take your time, convert, and paint each mini as an individual, then it goes a little more into artform territory.

There should be an option for " I Played Warhammer but quit because Games-Workshop are a bunch of money grubbing bastards who raise already unreasonable prices damn near weekly."

i play High Elves mainly. i also have an Ogre army, but i dont really play much anymore. until they get their new rule book i probably wont play them much or at all. as for High Elves, to me their the perfect army, they have everything for almost any scenerio (exept for Tzeentch demon armies). however my painting skill is no better than the way most Hero Cliz are painted :(

Don't play, have a wikipedia level understanding of the lore. I find the imperium mythos quite interesting, and the 40k grizzled space marine is the most grizzled and most space mariney of all space marines.

the tau can suck it. srzly. and the eldar can suck my terminator knobs.

It depends how you play, if you spend huors on end to paint your figurines its art, if you casually paint and play its a hobby. If you very rarely paint and play but like the lore it's an interest.

I personally like it but its just such a waste of money so I don't play.

No WFB, but I play 40K. Imperial Guard, my army is currently sitting at 1700 points, but I'm still short a second troop choice, an HQ squad, and a support platoon for the HQ.

Have an army that I have barely painted, just don't have the time to do it properly and I'm not gonna do a half-arse job of it. I'm very into the lore though

I got really carried away with what used to be a space marine army. It evolved and I wrote how things came around, the year of the chaotic void, the unholy alliance with the Eldar, even adding characters to the horus heresy, Potassius, he dies for the emperor and is reborn as the first dreadnought, I spent many hours modeling characters with "the green stuff" and doing basic conversions, however, other more important things came into my life, all I do now is miniature competitions on conversions with my buddies.
