I love the lore, its sort of like what humanity would become if we are being realistic, we're going to be as blood thursty as we are now, not saving the universe like Mass effect

Warhammer 40k? Realistic?

I see it as the Satirical Pessimists view of the future, it's just so damn dark it's hilarious.

Warhammer Players. More disposable income than you since 1983.

But seriously, I tried getting into it a couple of years ago but I just don't have the patience to paint them. I prefer Magic: The Gathering.

I have a question for you all... How many hours and how much money do you think youve spent on Warhammer in total?

Not as much as I've spent on video games and anime, I can tell you that much

Honestly though, the hobby is a lot cheaper than it used to be (Well, fantasy at least; I don't play 40k enough to know prices or points cost of models). A lot of the old expensive metal models are being re-released in plastic, making them about half as pricey on average

for years ive been eager to try, but the "start-up" of getting boxes, assembling and possibly painting (especially the painting part) is just simply too much work to start from the scratch. I know I could go to the nearest gaming store to try it out for free but I sort of know how the game plays out in rules-wise. I'd like to seriously get into it, but can't be arsed. :(
How lazy am I?

I think of it as a hobby, but never got past painting my models. I've sold a few that I painted for nice amounts so I think I'm pretty good. Last thing I painted was a bunch of Black Orcs, right before the release of War: online.

I can't be bothered lately though. The cost of them is too high despite the amount of time I can sink into painting a squad.

There isn't an option for not playing Warhammer. I used to, but then I gave up when I realized it's a collossal waste of money.

Ahmen...
When you look at it that way there's no reason for buying video games or books or anything like that.
you could say that ... but warhammer is filled with hidden costs... games or books pay once and its yours to play/read/enjoy as long as you dont break it.

Warhammer buy models, buy paint and glue etc,, bu codex, buy rule book,, 2 or 3 years later ohh look we've revised the rules... your gonna have to buy another rulebook. Because we've made new rules we've also made a new codex which your going to have to buy if you want to play.

After the third time round it gets annoying and wasteful.

The video games are a much cheaper alternatives to collecting and amassing an army big enough to send those pesky Eldars bastards running back to their craftworlds! Yep, I love the lore, and wished I had enough blings to get into the game, maybe later, who knows.

warhammer/miniature painting can easily be done very artsy.

Should warn that both pictures might disturb or offend some viewers.

It really does depend on the person doing the painting though. Some people like to paint their minis quickly and make an army for themselves in no time.

The other extreme is the guy who painted the figures on the pictures ive posted. Hes french, as if that would surprise anyone.

I used to but now my free time is spent less expensively. Though the lore is still interesting.

The rulebook and army books are like 60 and 20 dollars respectively... That's really not a lot to pay once every few years

I don't play the game and to be honest am not willing to invest the time (the cash doesn't bother me as much) to badly paint the dozens of models I'd need to play.

That said, I do like the CONCEPT of the game and I feel as though I could have quite a bit of fun were I to overcome my distaste for the group of people that I see playing it (no offense to the people who have devloped something resembling social skills and play the game) and my unwillingness to expend a few hundred hours demonstrating my complete lack of talent in the visual arts.

I have a small Necron army (1500 points) which i am painting at the mo. I prefer to make and paint the models than actually playing with them, I like converting the models (my necrons have a barbwire/rubble theme). I actually like playing Blood bowl and can't wait for the game to arrive on PC.
