I go rogue all the way. Then I play a mage. XD I like being melee without being a warrior. Just something about a class that has sly and that has some from of stealth makes it fun for me.

Warrior or rogue...I've never been as big of a magic user, unless it's for simple augmentation (attacking spells while fighting, shapeshifting, etc).

Warrior first always. They don't get the speed or magic credit, and it's always harder to find tanks, especially a good one, then DPS. Plus mages got their magic and stealth, warrior just go in.

Well... I guess it's mage for me, since I'm really into crowd control. But I would prefer to play an agility based melee crowd control type...

And I finally get to be one, since Final Fantasy 14 allows multi classing! =D

All depends on the game, for party based games i opt for being the tank or the dual wielding warrior but for a solo rpg type thing its gotta be the rogue, having party members hanging around kills the fun of stealthing i find.

Wow this actually presents a conundrum for me. If there is a necromancer/summoning class/prestige class involved, I will go that direction. If not I will go rogue, they are the undisputed masters of making RP fun and enjoyable :)

I really do split it up between all three. I played primarily a Mage in my first DA: O playthrough, but carried and used weapons typical to each class. My main save file on Oblivion is an Acrobat [Rogue].

When you get a new fantasy RPG, which archetype do you typically play first (or exclusively if you hate the others)?

For me, I can only play tanks. I'm always terrible at playing mages, be it diablo, DA:O, anything.
its a good idea to play tank but tanks are nothing without mage buffs!!! GO MAGES!!!

btw u forgot to add archers

I usually start out with a Warrior-type kind of character because I find those are pretty much always the easiest to play and it helps me get a feel for the game. Pretty much find the biggest stick you can find and beat everyone's heads in. When I do finally get into the whole logic of the game I like to play the most unusual class I can possibly find. :)

Rogue, because if you play it right your enemy won't know he's in danger before before he lies dead on the ground with a fatal wound in his neck.

I cross the warriors blade/block skills with the rogues light armor/ranged/stealth, with the mages illusion/destruction/restoration thrown in for good measure.
