In short, not a perfect film but a great film depending on what you look for in a film (considering that the trailer only showed the actiony bits i'm sure a lot of the audience was made up of walking hard-ons with a physical need for BANG BANG EXPLOWSION)

Now for a rant.

I went into the movie expecting a fuckload of sensless action with some hot, anime-esque gals jumping around in fancy outfits. What i got was far better.

After the film i heard it being compared to Inception and i think thats a crock of shit. Inception was an average film with a fairly good storyline that, once again, leo didn't feel like giving us an ending to. Suckerpunch was a new take on just about every storytelling technique i can think of (which isn't much but fuck you!), placed on a really good story. I've seen movies with rape and abuse and asylums before but this movie did a good job at capturing the whole feel of it all in the short time before it started displaying the movie through the perceptions of the main characters, aka the dance club. When i mentioned the different storytelling techniques before this is what i meant. Usually i would have expected a big focus on how dark and tortuous the place was, but that sort of feel was put across in the first few minutes so it didn't need to be dragged out through the whole film. So instead it gave us a look at what some people do to escape reality. Another thing i meant by different storytelling techniques is the main character not being the main character, as it was Sweetpea's story. Its been done before but I guess i got a different feel from it.

Which is basically what it is. A new sort of perception on a story and a good one at that. Probably would have been liked a lot more if it hadn't been sold on the action points in the trailer, so people knew what they were going to see. Also i thought the movie would show some girls kicking ass and proving that they shouldn't be looked down on. This would have been better presented if...
Since i dont know how to do the spoiler bit i'll just do alot of capitols and exclamation marks.

...If the orderly that got stabbed had died, or at least gone through a lot more pain, and if Sweetpea didn't seem so helpless in the outside world. I was given that sort of image at the start of the movie and i'd hoped that by the end of the film it would have changed.

I really didn't like it. The acting was terrible in my opinion, action scenes shit and plot confusing. I could go on but knowing that I didn't enjoy any aspect of it is good enough.
[sub]I loved the WiseMan though.[/sub]

Good thing someone else shares my opinion >.>
Yay people who will agree with me :D And the movie was aimed for a male audience. The only reason females went to see it is because their either lesbians or its payback for taking their boyfriends to see the justin beiber movie XD

Yea, I dug it. I dig all of Zack Snyder's work so far, and am waiting anxiously for Man of Steel. A Zack Snyder film starring Amy Adams? Yes, please.

I thought it was very original in the way it told a relatively simple escape story through fantasy daydream sequences. If nothing else it should commended for trying something new. That and the fact that it was visually stunning.

I don't have time for a long, argument filled review right now, but the movie was fantastic from start to finish. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it and probably the best action oriented film I have seen since The Dark Knight.
Exactly this!
I absolutely loved this film. It had everything for me that basically ticked all of my cinematic boxes, ever.

But then, I found that my friends and my family, totally didn't enjoy it. I got into long arguments with my brother and his best mate, who work in films anyway, and they slated it from start to finish. All I could say was that "for them, its not your thing, but I enjoyed it".

I accept that there are holes, there are times when it feels like the storyline somehow loses focus, and I can't stop thinking of Vanessa Hudgens without Zac Efron jumping into scene wearing some horrific school uniform, but I haven't enjoyed a film like this in so long.

I loved the fight scenes, I loved the music, I loved the costumes, I loved being backwards and forwards between worlds and the mix up in between (when the location changes but the costumes don't, for example).

Eh, I will probably get it on DVD too.
