I don't honestly recall any riots occurring when the year 2000 rolled in. In fact, I actually remember a whole lot of celebrating and partying.

With that in mind, I have full confidence that general human apathy will cause only loonies to do anything radical when this date comes round.

We just need to make a movie about how the world does not end in 2012 and the Mayan Calender just starts over on 2012.

Are you too young to have been around in the year 2000 or something? When absolutely *nothing* happened?

You're forgetting that most stupid people will have forgotten about it completely by 2012 most likely because of the film.

Looking at the poll, I have to ask-

Where is the "Go fuck yourself with a chainsword, sir!" option?

IF the world was ending (at least in their minds), why would they bother robbing and stealing? Wouldn't they all be fucking in the streets or something instead?

The world isn't going to end in 2012. It was meant to end in 2000 (as others have pointed out) and yet we're still here...

Wasn't it the Mayan calendar that predicted the end of the world in 2012? Why would they have seen this coming when the rest of the world didn't?

The way I see it about 2012 is this:

If we think the world is going to end, when (not if) you're wrong you'll look like an gullible, ignorant moron.. If it does end you'll die with the feeling of satisfaction (too bad it won't end).

If we think the world isn't going to end, when (again not if) it doesn't end we won't look like gullible, ignorant morons. But if it does end, who's going to care? The world's flippin' ending, no one will stop to rub it in. (Hooray for the world not ending in 2012!)

The majority of humanity have never even heard about the 2012 doomsday theory... and few people of the ones that has heard about it takes it seriously (or at least, that's what I hope).

So, no, nothing world changing will happen... Humanity will survive and carry on as usual and the 2012 doomsday theory will pass away into history like the Y2K bug and other doomsday theories.

Anyone who believes this isn't worth being saved -.-

I expect maybe some people panicking, but many. Doomsdays have come and passed.

Plus, what about time zones? When it's December 21 somewhere, it'll still be the 20th somewhere else, or the 22nd, depending on where we're talking about so... Yeah... Actually, that's stupid, but whatever :p

i don't think enough people care about it to have to worry about mass rioting

I've heard the world is going to end so many times for so many different reasons that it has lost all meaning...

I'd say there is a pretty good chance that I will wake up the morning of Dec 13th 2012 to find the world the same way I'd left it when I went to bed.

Makes sense, but I doubt it's going to be that bad. There'll be riots and more criminal activity to be sure, but we'll survive it. After all, not everyone believes this crap.

The fuck is the point in looting if the world is going to end?

Seriously. The world's going to end. Nothing you loot will be worth anything because it'll be gone and so will you.
I admire your optimism that people who believe this or other doomsday prophecies will be thinking rationally.

It's natural that species die off, to think we did it to ourselves proves how self-obsessed we are with our own power.
